June 4, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tacoma Rainiers News Release

TACOMA, Wash. - Abraham Almonte delivered a go-ahead single in the 14th inning to lead the Tacoma Rainiers to a 2-1 win over the Sacramento River Cats at Cheney Stadium on Monday night.

The outfielder broke open a 1-1 tie with a line drive to left field that scored Brad Miller from second base. Almonte collected the hit in his only at-bat of the game to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.

Tacoma trailed 1-0 after first baseman Daric Barton drove in the only River Cats run with an RBI single in the top of the second inning. Rainiers catcher Brandon Bantz tied things up with a solo home run to left field in the seventh - his first with Tacoma this season.

The Rainiers combined to collect 10 hits in the contest. Bantz and Miller each turned in three-hit games, and Dustin Ackley went 2-for-5 and reached base a total of five times.

Reliever Forrest Snow (1-0) earned the win after holding Sacramento to three hits over 3.0 shutout innings beginning in the 12th. Left-handers Bobby LaFromboise (2.1 IP) and Brian Moran (2.0 IP) chipped in a combined 4.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Starter Brandon Maurer surrendered one run on three hits over 6.2 innings and struck out seven with three walks issued in his Triple-A debut. The right-hander was optioned to Tacoma from Seattle on May 29.

At 36-23, Tacoma maintains the best record in the Pacific Coast League. Following Colorado Springs' loss at Salt Lake earlier in the evening, the Rainiers now hold a 3.5-game lead over the Sky Sox in the Pacific Northern Division standings - their largest of the season.

The Rainiers (36-23) host the team's fourth and final game against the River Cats (32-26) at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow, June 4. Right-hander Andrew Carraway (6-1, 2.98) is expected to start for Tacoma against Sacramento's right-hander Travis Banwart (2-2, 5.45)
