Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas - Behind two second inning home runs, the Round Rock Express (33-26) took the series finale from the Nashville Sounds (18-39) 6-2 to earn a series victory Tuesday night at Dell Diamond.
The E-Train needed just one inning of scoring against the Sounds pitching staff to support a solid start from southpaw Ryan Feierabend as the left-hander improved to 3-1 on the season.
Shortstop Yangervis Solarte started the second inning with his seventh home run of the season, blasting the first pitch he saw from Sounds starter Chris Narveson just inside the left field foul pole to put the Express ahead 1-0. Narveson retired the next two batters via the strikeout and looked to limit the damage but third baseman Mike Olt connected on his second long ball of the season and the second of the inning for the E-Train. Leading 2-0, Round Rock strung together five straight hits including three doubles to put four more runs on the board before the inning came to a close, erupting for six runs.
Feierabend surrendered runs in the third and fourth innings, but finished the evening after logging 5.0 frames of work and in line for the win. The bullpen was lights out as four pitchers combined to hold the Sounds to just three hits over the final 4.0 innings, preserving the victory for Feierabend.
Each starter in the Round Rock lineup recorded a hit as the E-Train pounded out 11 knocks off the Nashville pitching staff. Narveson suffered the loss, dropping to 0-1 as the Express picked up the series victory in the finale of a four-game homestand.
After an off day on Wednesday, the Express will hit the road for a four-game trip to Des Moines, Iowa to take on the I-Cubs starting Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Round Rock will return to Dell Diamond on June 10 to open a four-game set against the Albuquerque Isotopes at 7:05 p.m. For more information on the Express, visit www.RoundRockExpress.com or call (512) 255-2255.
