June 4, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Isotopes (31-28) established a new season high with eight extra base hits in their 10-2 victory over the first-place Oklahoma City RedHawks (32-25) at Isotopes Park. Right fielder Matt Angle led the charge going 2-for-2 from the plate with two homers, four runs scored, two walks and two RBI. It was Angle's first career multi-home run game.
Albuquerque also tied a season high with two triples, one by second baseman Elian Herrera and the other by shortstop Dee Gordon.
With the Isotopes eyeing a series spilt with first-place Oklahoma City right fielder Matt Angle blasted his fourth home run of the season putting Albuquerque up 1-0 in the second. He would hit his second homer in the seventh extending the Albuquerque lead to 10-2.
First baseman Rusty Ryal sparked the offense in the fourth as the Topes tacked on two runs. Ryal led off with his 11th double of the season taking over the 2013 team lead. Two batters later, third baseman Brian Barden followed an Angle walk with his ninth two bagger of the year plating the pair. Barden picked up one RBI on the play as Angle scored on a throwing error. The two sides then exchange runs in the fifth.
After the RedHawks drew a run closer in the sixth, Albuquerque plated five in their half, pulling away from Oklahoma City 9-2. The inning was highlighted by Gordon's third triple of the season scoring two runs and left fielder Chili Buss' two-run double.
Red Patterson made his third start of the season. The righty gave the Isotopes 4.2 one-run innings allowing seven hits. He also walked and struck out three. Righties Anthony Ortega (3-3, 4.44) and Steve Ames combine for 3.1 innings of work. Each hurler allowed two hits and Ortega surrendered a run and earned the win. Right-handed Chris Withrow finished the game for Albuquerque firing a perfect ninth.
Right-hander Philip Humber (0-1, 5.25) suffered the loss for the RedHawks allowing four runs, two earned over 4.2 innings.
The Isotopes hit the road for eight games against the New Orleans Zephyrs and Round Rock Express following an off day tomorrow. Righty Blake Johnson (5-3, 3.36) is scheduled to take the ball in the first game of the trip on Thursday at 6:00 PM MT. New Orleans has yet to announce a starter. Albuquerque returns Friday, June 14 for a four-game set against Memphis. Catch all of the game action on 610 AM "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
