Gladiators Sign Dobek

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that forward Bryan Dobek has been signed to a contract. Dobek appeared in eight games with Gwinnett earlier in the season.

The 5-10 native of Escondido, CA played in eight games with the Gladiators from November 20th to December 7th. He scored one goal and compiled a -1 plus/minus rating.

Prior to this season, Dobek played in 35 games with the Gladiators during the 2006-07 season. He notched 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points last season.

Dobek finished the 06-07 season with the Fayetteville (NC) Fireantz of the Southern Professional hockey league where he notched 16 goals and 16 assists in 20 regular season games. The Fireantz went on to win the SPHL Championship last season and Dobek chipped in 5 goals and 7 assists in 7 playoff games.

The forward should be available for the Gladiators' contest with the Stingrays in South Carolina tonight.

The Gladiators continue their fifth anniversary season on Friday, February 1st as they travel to South Carolina to take on the Stingrays at the North Charleston Coliseum at 7:05 p.m. Catch all the play-by-play action in Friday's game via AccessRadio on AccessNorthGa.com.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier 'AA' Hockey League in 2007-08, the ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that has 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-08. The 25 teams includes the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals. The ECHL will play 900 games beginning Oct. 18 and concluding Apr. 5.
