Florida Everblades News Release

BEAUMONT, TX - The Florida Everblades (24-17-4) suffered a heart-breaking loss on Friday night as the Texas Wildcatters (34-4-7) scored the game's first goal and game-winning goal with 1:07 remaining in the third period to earn a 2-0 victory in front of a crowd of 1,564 at Ford Arena.

The goaltending ruled the night as Texas goaltender Anton Khudobin out-dueled Everblades net minder Justin Peters to earn his second shutout of the season by stopping all 27 shots he faced in the contest. Peters did his part for the Everblades stopping 37 of 38 shots he faced, but unfortunately it was the 38th shot on goal for Texas that found the back of the net for the game-winner.

Former Everblade defenseman John Adams jammed a rebound in the crease across the goal line with 1:07 left in regulation. The goal, Adams' 5th of the year, came with Texas on their fourth power play of the night and began when Kevin Baker's shot from the left circle rang off the left post and dropped behind Peters.

The entertaining game featured a first period that saw both teams come up with good scoring chances and the Everblades out shoot Texas 12-10, but ended with both goaltenders being the stars, stopping all shots. The second period also featured more good action and scoring chances for both teams, but again the goaltenders kept the game scoreless with Peters stopping all 12 shots he faced in the period and Khudobin turning away the five shots he faced to keeping the game scoreless entering the third period and set up the wild ending.

The Wildcatters sealed the victory with an empty net goal by Ross Carlson with 40 seconds remaining in the third period to help push Texas to their sixth straight win.

Peters saw his record drop to 16-9-2 after suffering the tough-luck loss, while Khudobin improved to 19-1-4 with the victory.

On the power play, the Everblades closed out night 0-for-4, while the Wildcatters finished 1-for-5.
