Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® defeated the Fresno Falcons 4-3 in a shootout in front of 5,849 fans at the Orleans Arena on Friday night. Las Vegas forwards Peter Ferarro, Tyler Mosienko and Ryan Donally each scored over a 5:09 span in the third period to tie the game 3-3. Ferraro and Mosienko scored six-seconds apart, a new team record for the two fastest goals in team history. Wingers Aki Seitsonen and Bruce Mulherin each scored in the shootout, while goalie Kevin Lalande stopped four of five Falcons in the shootout to preserve the victory. Lalande finished the evening with 33 saves for his ninth win of the season. Las Vegas will play in Fresno on Saturday night at 7:30 pm.
After a scoreless first period, the Falcons lit the lamp three times over a 6:06-span for a 3-0 lead. Winger Igor Gongalsky scored the first two goals at 2:44 and at 6:24. Just 1:14 later, left wing Luke Curtin scored his sixth of the season, on the power play, giving Fresno a 3-0 lead.
Las Vegas countered with three goals in the third period to tie the game and force overtime. Left wing Ryan Donally poked in a rebound just 1:34 into the period. The Ferraro twins set up Donally's ninth goal of the season as Las Vegas trimmed the Fresno lead to 3-1. Las Vegas tallied a 5-on-3 three power-play goal at 6:19 of the third. Center Tyler Mosienko scored his 14th goal of the season off a crisp pass from Jason Jozsa down towards the goal-line. The Wranglers tied the game 3-3 off the next face-off as Peter Ferraro knocked in a Ryan Donally rebound for his 18th goal of the season at 6:25. The two goals set a team record for the two fastest goals in team history at just six seconds apart.
After a scoreless overtime, the teams skated to a shootout. Las Vegas goalie Kevin Lalande allowed one goal in the shootout, while Fresno's Jake Moreland allowed two. John Morlang scored for the Falcons, while Aki Seitsonen and Bruce Mulherin scored for the Wranglers.
Las Vegas heads to Fresno for a 7:30 pm game on Saturday. The Wranglers will continue on the road with stops in Phoenix, Bakersfield and Stockton. Las Vegas will return hoe on Friday, February 15th to host Victoria at 7:05 pm.
