Fresno Falcons News Release
Las Vegas, Nevada - The Las Vegas Wranglers scored three third-period goals to erase a 3-0 deficit, and rallied for a 4-3 shootout win over the Fresno Falcons on Friday in front of 5,849 fans at Orleans Arena. All five games in the season series between Fresno and Las Vegas have gone to either overtime or a shootout.
Despite outshooting Las Vegas 14-5 in the first period, Fresno was unable to get anything past goaltender Kevn Lalande, and the game was scoreless after 20 minutes of play.
The Falcons kept the pressure on early in the second period, and it paid off as they scored three goals in a little under six minutes to take a 3-0 lead after two periods.
Igor Gongalsky opened the scoring at 2:44. Lalande tried to cover the puck on the far post, but before he could get his glove on it, Gongalsky reached in, and poked the puck home to give Fresno a 1-0 lead.
Gongalsky struck again at 6:24 to double the lead to 2-0. Tyler Kindle took a shot from the left-wing circle which Gongalsky was able to deflect home for his 14th goal of the year.
Fresno's power play then went to work to stretch the lead to three. Jarrett Konkle centered a pass for Luke Curtin at the hash marks, and he blasted a one-timer past Lalande at 8:38 for his sixth of the season.
Las Vegas got on the board just 1:34 into the third period as Ryan Donally slid a shot past Moreland on a goal-mouth scramble for his 10th of the season.
The Wranglers scored a pair of power-play goals just six seconds apart to tie the game at three. Tyler Mosienko made it a 3-2 game at 6:19 taking a pass from Jason Jozsa in the right-wing circle and one-timing a shot past Jake Moreland for his 15th goal of the year.
Right off the ensuing face-off, Donally raced into the Fresno zone, and had his shot tipped by Pter Ferraro at 6:25 to pull Las Vegas even.
The game remained tied at three through the rest of regulation and overtime. In the shootout, Las Vegas outscored Fresno 2-1 to cap the come-from-behind win.
The Falcons return home on Saturday, hosting Las Vegas at 7:30 p.m. It's the first-ever "Read at the Rink," presented by Little Caesar's and the Fresno County Bar Association. All fans are encouraged to donate a book to the Central Valley Book Bank, as well as take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about literacy-based organizations in the area. The first 1,500 fans in attendance receive a long-sleeve t-shirt courtesy of Little Caesar's and Alpha Designs of Hanford. Following the game, join the Falcons for a post-game party at Logan's Roadhouse, located at 7507 N. Blackstone, across from River Park.
