Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

WHEELING, West Virginia - Cincinnati Cyclones goaltender Cedrick Desjardins has enjoyed playing in Wheeling this season. A 3-0 record and a shutout streak that extended to 157:44 until it was broken in the third period-in claiming a 4-1 win at Wheeling on Friday night.

The Cyclones scored twice in the opening period, with a pair of goals from nearly the same spot on the ice. The first goal, a power play score from Matt Syroczynski was his 15th goal of the campaign at 8:31. The shot came from the slot directly between the faceoff circles, just inside the right post. David Desharnais and Thomas Beauregard added the assists. The led extended to 2-0, when on the next power play, Beauregard snapped off his 19th goal of the year in that slot area, from Desharnais and Syroczynski.

There was no scoring in the second period that saw Wheeling out shoot Cincinnati, 13-7.

Matt Byrnes netted his first pro goal at 11:19 of the third period to cut the deficit to 2-1. A goal by Cory Urquhart of the Cyclones with 1:34 remaining secured the win. For Urquhart, it was his eighth of the season and was assisted by Jason Deitsch . The final goal came with three seconds to play when Beauregard netted his second of the night and 20th of the year from Desharnais and Syroczynski.

Desjardins stopped 39 shots in picking up his twelfth victory of the season. His goals against average drops to 2.06, best in the ECHL.

For the first time in team history, the Cincinnati Cyclones are 22 games above .500, with a 30-8-3 record and sole possession of first place in the North Division.
