Gladiators Playoff March Update
March 7, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Playoff March Notes:
If the playoffs were to begin today, the Gladiators would be the 7th seed in the American Conference. The top 8 teams in the conference qualify for the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs with the Division winners seeded 1 & 2. Pensacola is currently in 1st place in the South Division while Charlotte is currently in 1st place in the East Division.
Gwinnett & Columbia have played the fewest games so far this season â 53 â in the American Conference.
The Gladiators (.604) jump ahead of South Carolina (.589) and Greenville (.588) and into 5th place in the American Conference when ranked by winning percentage.
Gwinnett has 9 home games remaining including tomorrow night's game against Columbia. The Gladiators have won 5 straight home games and have not lost in regulation at home in their past 10 home games.
Pee Dee is the Gladiators' biggest threat of the teams currently out of a playoff position with 57 points. Gwinnett (53) has 3 more games left to play than the Pride (56) including this Saturday's game in Pee Dee.
Texas only has 2 points to give before they are mathematically eliminated from the playoff race. If Texas loses in regulation Tuesday night they will be eliminated from the playoffs.
The Gladiators picked up 3 out of a possible 4 points last weekend and continue to share 7th in the American Conference.
The Gladiators have a busy week with 4 games. They host Columbia on Tuesday, Louisiana on Friday, are at Pee Dee on Saturday and then host South Carolina on Sunday.
Pee Dee won back-to-back games last weekend picking up 4 out of 4 possible points and gaining a point on the Gladiators. Pee Dee is at Columbia on Tuesday and hosts Charlotte and Pensacola before the Gladiators visit the Florence Civic Center on Saturday.
Augusta, who has an outside chance for the playoffs 13 points back, lost twice over the weekend. The Lynx are at South Carolina on Friday and host Greenville on Saturday.
