Fresno Falcons Weekly Update

March 7, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release

LAST WEEK'S RECORD: 2-1-0 OVERALL RECORD: 32-18-7, 71 pts.

March 1 vs. Bakersfield, 5-4 Overtime Win - After trailing twice by a single goal during the first half of the game the Falcons finally forged a one-goal lead of their own until well into the third period only to fall behind a third time by giving up two goals in a 1:13 span with only two minutes to play. But with goaltender Brett Jaeger pulled in favor of an extra attacker, Dustin VanBallegooie scored with 12.7 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at four, and David Brisson won the roller coaster ride 2:42 into overtime with his 13th of the year.

March 4 vs. San Diego, 5-2 Win - After falling behind for the third game in a row at home, the Falcons came alive when Matt O'Dette crashed the net for his second of the year, which was quickly followed by a power play goal from Brisson just 1:05 later to tie the game at two late in the second. Fresno finished the contest by scoring three more in the third, including the game-winner from Simon Mangos, to win going away.

March 5 @ San Diego, 4-0 Loss - In the final game of the regular season against the Gulls, San Diego's desperation to keep alive in the playoff race proved too much for Fresno on the road. The Gulls scored twice each in the first and second periods and Eddie Ferhi made 31 saves as the Falcons were shutout for the sixth time this year.

. Saturday's loss at San Diego snapped a nine-game unbeaten streak (7-0-2) as the Falcons lost for the first time in regulation since Feb. 11.

. Since beginning the season with a 1-5-1 record at home, the Falcons are now 18-2-1 in their last 21 games at Save Mart Center.

. The Falcons are ranked 2nd (19.7%) on the power play and 19th (85.2%) on the penalty kill.
