Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN - Kris Johnson was nearly unhittable, tossing eight shutout innings to lead Kansas City to a 7-0 win over the Saltdogs in front of 2,984 fans at Haymarket Park Wednesday night.

Johnson did not allow a hit until Joe Ramos stroked a single to left with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That would be the only knock the 'Dogs would muster.

The T-Bones tallied a run in the first on a sacrifice fly and six runs - five unearned - as they batted around in the sixth, highlighted by a Aharon Eggleston lead-off home run.

Johnson (1-2) went eight innings, allowing just one hit while walking five and striking out seven to earn the win. James Garcia (1-2) allowed two earned on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings to suffer the loss.

The T-Bones stranded 16 runners on base and the Saltdogs committed a season-high five errors.

Blake Gailen and Jorge Cortes both saw double digit game hit streaks come to an end.

Jimmy Mojica was ejected from the ballgame after arguing balls and strikes in the top of the fourth, making it the fourth T-Bone to be tossed in less than a 23-hour period.

Lincoln hosts the Amarillo Sox Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. for game one of a four-game series. Alex Maestri (4-5, 5.60) will take the mound. Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.

Come on out tomorrow for Thirsty Thursday featuring $2 select draft beers and Pepsi fountain drinks, and $1 tacos from Amigos! For team and ticket information please call 402-474-BALL or visit www.saltdogs.com.
