Grand Prairie 11, Fort Worth 4
Second baseman David Espinosa and third baseman Cesar Nicolas each had three hits, two runs and one RBI for Grand Prairie as the AirHogs topped Fort Worth 11-4 at QuikTrip Park. Fort Worth scored in the top of the third inning when catcher Kelley Gulledge hit a three-run homer, and Grand Prairie followed in the bottom of the inning with two runs of its own. The Cats scored its fourth and final run in the next frame, but the AirHogs scored the next nine runs to topple Fort Worth. Grand Prairie recorded a total of 12 hits in the game, and left fielder David Thomas chipped in two hits, three runs and one RBI for the AirHogs. Center fielder Brian Fryer was the only Cat to register more than one hit in the game, and he led Fort Worth with two hits and one RBI in four at-bats. Josh Rainwater, now 10-2 on the season, earned the win by allowing seven hits, four runs and striking out three in nine innings pitched.
Sioux City 5, Gary SouthShore 3
After trailing Gary SouthShore for most of the game, Sioux City scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning en route to a 5-3 win against the RailCats at U.S. Steel Yard Stadium. Gary Southshore scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, and the Explorers got on the board in the top of the third when center fielder Dustin Jones hit an RBI single. Both teams went scoreless during the next four frames, before right fielder Derek Schermerhorn, first baseman Kent Sakamoto and left fielder T.J. Bohn all singled to combine for four RBI and put Sioux City ahead 5-2 in the eighth. Gary SouthShore scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning when right fielder Cristian Guerrero hit an RBI double, but it wasn't enough to top the Explorers. Center fielder Mike Massaro led Gary SouthShore with three hits and two runs in five at-bats, and Jones chipped in two hits, one run and one RBI for Sioux City. Nick Schumacher, now 6-4 on the season, earned the win by allowing five hits, two runs and striking out seven in seven innings pitched.
Wichita 1, Shreveport-Bossier 0
Junior Guerra, now 4-2 on the season, allowed no hits, no runs and struck out nine in 7.1 innings pitched as he led Wichita to a 1-0 win against Shreveport-Bossier at Lawrence Durmont Stadium. Wichita scored its first and only run in the bottom of the fourth inning when right fielder Josh Workman singled to bat in first baseman Jorge Delgado. The Captains failed to register a single hit in the game, and Wichita pitchers combined for 11 total strikeouts. Wichita recorded just five total hits, and no Wingnut had more than one. This was the third time in four games that Wichita shutout Shreveport-Bossier, and the three Wingnut pitchers combined to pitch the fourth no-hitter in American Association history. Richard Salazar, now 4-4 on the season, earned the loss by allowing five hits, one run and striking out four in seven innings pitched.
El Paso 11, Amarillo 9
Shortstop Maikol Gonzalez hit a two-RBI double to left field in the top of the 11th inning to help El Paso top Amarillo 11-9 at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium. Amarillo scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning, but was scoreless during the next five frames while the Diablos took a lead. Trailing El Paso 8-2 in the eighth inning, the Sox scored seven runs in the eighth inning alone to take a 9-8 lead against the Diablos. In the top of the ninth, El Paso tied the score when catcher Alberto Espinosa singled to left field and batted in first baseman Javier Brito. Four different Diablos recorded multiple hits in the game, and second baseman Albenis Machado led El Paso with two hits, one run and three RBI in five at-bats. Both the Diablos and the Sox registered 11 total hits, and second baseman Alex Chavez chipped in two hits, two runs and two RBI in five at-bats for Amarillo. Ray Silva, now 2-1 on the season, earned the win by allowing one hit, no runs and striking out one in 2.2 innings pitched.
Kansas City 7, Lincoln 0
Kris Johnson, now 1-2 on the season, allowed just one hit, no runs and struck out six to lead Kansas City to a 7-0 shutout win against Lincoln at Haymarket Park. The T-Bones scored their first run of the night in the top of the first inning when third baseman Rico Washington batted in center fielder Keanon Simon. Both teams were scoreless during the next four frames before Kansas City got on the board again in the top of the sixth. Left fielder Aharon Eggleston led-off with a solo home run, and moments later Washington batted in second baseman Gerardo Caceres. Designated hitter Jim Fasano and first baseman Kala Kaaihue also had RBI in the sixth, and the T-Bones scored six runs and recorded five hits in the inning. Second baseman Joe Ramos had the only hit for the Saltdogs, while right fielder Ray Sadler led Kansas City with four hits and one run in five at-bats. James Garcia, now 1-2 on the season, earned the loss by allowing nine hits, six runs and walking one in 5.2 innings pitched.
