Falcons Set To Host The Sharks Tonight

Friday night will be the fourth meeting between the Springfield Falcons and Worcester Sharks this season. The first three games all went to the Sharks as they defeated the Falcons 1-0 (OT) on Oct. 24, 4-1 on Nov. 1, and 3-2 last week on Nov. 25. Worcester has used a very balanced offense in the first three games, with 16 different players recording at least one of the team's 21 total points in those games. Leading Worcester in those games has been Danny Groulx with three assists, Logan Couture with two goals, Ryan Vesce with one goal and one assist, and Mike Moore with two assists. The Sharks have used both Alex Stalock and Tyson Sexsmith in net combining for a.950 save percentage and 0.98 GAA. The Falcons have been led by Colton Fretter with two goals and Charles Linglet with one goal and one assist in those three games. Springfield also started two goaltenders against Worcester to combine for the three games. Devan Dubnyk and Aaron Sorochan each have faced the Sharks and have combined to post a.955 save percentage and 1.63 GAA.

The Springfield Falcons leading scorer this season is Charles Linglet with 26 points. Linglet's 26 points is tied for third most in the AHL, while his 19 assists places him in second in the league. Leading the team in goals this season for Springfield is Colton Fretter with 10 markers. With Devan Dubnyk being called up to Edmonton last week, the Falcons have started AHL rookies Aaron Sorochan and Andrew Perugini in net the past four games. Sorochan has played in six games this season posting 3.60 GAA and.883 save percentage in 317 minutes. Perugini has started one game for the Falcons, making 32 of 34 saves in a 3-2 shootout loss to Manchester on November 28.

The Worcester Sharks have seven players with double digit point totals this season. Leading the Worcester players is Danny Groulx (3 G, 16 A), Steven Zalewski (7 G, 11 A), and Logan Couture (7 G, 10 A). Couture has a knack for finding the back of the net in clutch situations with an AHL high five game-winning goals this season. The Sharks Brad Mashinter leads all current Worcester players with 43 PIM on the year. In goal, Alex Stalock has received most of the work playing in 18 games posting an 11-6-1-1 record, 2.32 GAA and.914 save percentage.

Falcons Transactions:

11-28-09- The Springfield Falcons have announced they have signed Right Wing Chanse Fitzpatrick to a PTO. On November 30, Fitzpatrick was officially released from his PTO with the Falcons. Fitzpatrick played in one game for Springfield.

12-3-09- The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced that they have signed Forward Adam Henrich to a PTO. Henrich is a six-year pro who previously has played for the Falcons as recent as earlier this season. Henrich played in four games for Springfield this season, recording one goal and one assist. Since leaving the Falcons, Henrich has played in the ECHL this season for the Ontario Reign (8 GP, 5 G, 4 A) and Cincinnati Cyclones (2 GP, 0 G, 0 A).

Sharks Transactions:

11-28-09- Worcester's Right Wing Matt Jones was reassigned by the NHL's San Jose Sharks to the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings. Jones has played in 14 games this season with Worcester recording one goal and one assist.

11-28-09- Defenseman Jason Demers has been recalled by the San Jose Sharks. Demers previously played in 27 games for San Jose this season with one goal and 12 assist. Demers appeared in one game for Worcester.

11-28-09- The San Jose Sharks have announced that they have returned from loan Center Benn Ferriero to the Worcester Sharks. Ferriero has played in six games for Worcester recording one goal and two assists.

11-30-09- Left Wing Jamie McGinn was sent down by the San Jose Sharks to the Worcester Sharks. McGinn was recalled back up to San Jose on December 1. McGinn has played in five games for Worcester recording three goals and three assists.
