Albany Devils News Release

LOWELL, Mass. - Nick Palmieri had the first three-point night of his professional career and Mike McKenna made 30 saves as the Lowell Devils defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 5-1, on Friday at the Tsongas Arena. Palmieri's two goals and an assist helped Lowell take sole possession of second place in the Atlantic Division.

The Devils jumped ahead, 1-0, at 2:28 of the first on Brad Mills' third goal in as many games. Nick Palmieri intercepted a pass behind the Bridgeport net and tried to beat Scott Munroe with a stuff shot, but the puck would pop into the air and ricochet off of Mills across the goal line.

The script differed slightly for Lowell in the second, as they again scored at 2:28 when Palmieri was this successful with his wraparound attempt inside the near post.

Nathan Perkovich picked up his team-leading eighth goal of the season, taking a drop pass from Alexander Vasyunov and blasting home a one-timer from the top of the near circle at 9:55.

Palmieri would cap off his night midway through the third when he pinballed a slapshot through the slot and under the pad of Munroe.

Bridgeport spoiled McKenna's shutout bid with 7:42 remaining in regulation as Trevor Smith tipped in Mark Wotton's shot from the blueline.

Michael Swift added a 5-on-3 power play goal with 46.4 seconds left to help McKenna register his eighth win of the year.

The Lowell Devils complete their four-game homestand on Sunday, December 6 at 4:00PM when they face the Manchester Monarchs.
