Richards Recalled From Toledo, Hogs Face Griffins Tonight

Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Friday that the Chicago Blackhawks have reassigned goalie Alec Richards to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League from the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.

Richards, 22, made two starts for Toledo since being reassigned to the team on Sunday, stopping 41 shots in a shootout loss on Sunday and then following it up with a 31-save win on Wednesday.

The Robbinsdale, Minn. native made his American Hockey League debut on Nov. 25 in Rockford's 2-1 loss to the Manitoba Moose at the Rockford MetroCentre and then earned his first AHL win on Nov. 27 in Rockford's 4-3 victory in Grand Rapids.

He has appeared in nine games with Toledo during his first professional season, carrying a 5-1-0-3 record in 2009-10 with a.909 save percentage and a 2.78 goals against average.

He is expected to be in Grand Rapids for Rockford's game against the Griffins at 6 p.m. tonight.

Next Home Game: Saturday, Dec. 5 vs. Lake Erie Monsters: Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. A quick turnaround for Rockford has them back on home ice against Lake Erie for the first time this season. Saturday is the IceHogs Annual Teddy Bear Toss for charity. Fans are invited to bring new stuffed animals to the game and after the IceHogs score their first goal, fans can toss the stuffed animals onto the ice. Also, the first 2,500 fans to the game will receive an IceHogs Jersey Bag from Rockford Orthopedic, BOB FM and 23 WIFR.

WINNING WAYS LOOK TO CONTINUE ON THE ROAD

Grand Rapids, Mich.- For the first time this season the Rockford IceHogs have won three games in a row. Tonight the IceHogs will try to make it four straight in Grand Rapids when they battle the Griffins at 6 p.m. at the Van Andel Arena.

This is the second straight Friday night in Grand Rapids for Rockford, where the club's three game winning streak started. The IceHogs handed the Griffins just their second home loss in 11 games last Friday night, knocking them off 4-3.

The line combination of Bracken Kearns, Jack Skille and Kyle Greentree has been hot as of late for Rockford. The trio has combined to score five goals over Rockford's past three games.

Tonight's contest is the second of eight overall on the season between the IceHogs and Griffins and second of four on the campaign in Grand Rapids. Rockford has lost just once in regulation in five all-time meetings (2-1-0-2) at Van Andel Arena.
