ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades hit the all-star break going 1-2-0 this past week, which puts their overall record at 26-11-2 (54 pts., 1st South Division).

Friday & Saturday, January 27 & 28, vs. South Carolina Stingrays Both Games 7:30 p.m. GAME NOTES: The Everblades take on the Stingrays for the four and fifth of nine times this season on Friday & Saturday at Germain Arena. The games are the second and third between the South Division rivals at Germain Arena. The Everblades lead the season series 2-1-0. The 'Blades won the first two games of the season series; 5-4 in overtime at home on Nov. 8, and 3-1 in Charleston on Nov. 27. South Carolina's lone win the series came on Nov. 29 at Charleston with a 3-2 decision. The Stingrays enter this week's action with a record of 15-14-10 (40 pts., 5th South Division) and are 6-7-4 on the road this season. Florida holds an all-time record of 29-15-8 vs. South Carolina and are 14-7-5 all-time at home vs. the Stingrays.

LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
Tuesday, January 17 at Fresno Falcons 4-1 Loss The Everblades finished off their west coast trip with a 4-1 loss to the Fresno Falcons last Tuesday at the Save Mart Center in Fresno CA. The loss ended Florida's three-game winning streak. After a scoreless first period, the teams combined for three second period goals. The Everblades opened the scoring with a power play goal by Phil Aucoin at 7:36 of the frame. Fresno however answered with an even strength goal at 8:56 to tie the game at one, then took the lead for good with just 1:43 remaining in the first period. In the third period Fresno tacked on two goals to extend their lead. The Falcons notched a power play goal at 17:01 of the final period, then sealed the win with 2:14 remaining. Goaltender Phil Osaer suffered the loss allowing four goals on 31 Fresno shots bringing his record to 12-4-2. Florida Special Teams: PP: 1-for-3; PK: 3-for-4.
Friday, January 20 vs. Pensacola Ice Pilots 4-1 Win
The Everblades used two power play goals and killed off all eight power play chances for the Pensacola Ice Pilots to pick up a 4-1 victory over their division rival. The win was Florida's seventh straight against Pensacola this season. The Everblades, who opened a seven-game on Friday night, began the game strong coming with pressure from the drop of the puck. The hard work was rewarded just 1:48 into the game when Kevin Bergin collected the first of his two goals on the night while the Everblades were on the power play. Chris Lee extended Florida's lead to 2-0 with his seventh goal of the season at 2:53 of the second period. Midway through the second period, the Everblades penalty killers came up strong killing a four minute power play for the Ice Pilots, two minutes of which was a 5-on-3. Shortly after killing the penalties, the Everblades collected their second power play goal of the game when Dan Sisca wristed a shot inside the left post at 13:43 of the middle period. Pensacola's lone goal came late in the second period with 2:14 remaining in the frame. The Everblades sealed the win late in the third period on Bergin's second of the night and 15th goal of the season at 17:14. Rookie goaltender Kevin Nastiuk was making his first start on home ice and increased his record to 2-0-0 by stopping 32 of 33 Pensacola shots. By blanking Pensacola on the power play, the Everblades have killed off 44 of 46 power play opportunities for the Ice Pilots this season. Florida Special Teams: PP: 2-for-4; PK: 8-for-8.
Saturday, January 21 vs. Augusta Lynx 5-1 Loss The Everblades suffered their first loss of the season to the Augusta Lynx after falling 5-1 on Saturday night at Germain Arena. The Lynx jumped quickly on the Everblades scoring four times in the first period. It was the fourth time the Everblades have allowed four goals in one period to an opponent this season. Everblades starting goalie Phil Osaer was lifted after the first period and replaced by Kevin Nastiuk. Over the final two periods, Nastiuk stood tall stopping all 19 shots he faced in the second period and nine of 10 in the third period. Offensively, Brandon Coalter notched his third goal of the season at 10:28 of the middle period. Augusta closed out the scoring with a shorthanded goal 4:54 into the third period. The shorthanded tally was Augusta's 10th this season, and it was the sixth allowed by the Everblades. In goal, Osaer suffered the loss for the Everblades allowing four goals on 15 shots in the opening period, dropping his record to 12-5-2. Nastiuk finished out the game stopping 28 of 29 shots faced. With the loss, the Everblades are now 5-1-0 vs. Augusta this season. Florida Special Teams: PP: 0-for-3; PK: 5-for-5.

Weekly Award Nominee: This week's Everblades ECHL Goaltender of Week nominee is Kevin Nastiuk who was 1-0-0 in two games with a goals against average of 1.20, and a save percentage of .968. The 20-year-old native of Edmonton, Alta. stopped 32 of 33 shots in a 4-1 win on Jan. 20 vs. Pensacola and turned away 28 of 29 shots in 40 minutes of relief on Jan. 21 vs. Augusta.
Everblades Special Teams Breakdown: After 39 games, here's a look at Florida's special teams breakdown heading into the week: The overall power play is ranked 2nd (49-for-215, 22.8%). At home, the 'Blades are ranked 5th (23.2%) and on the road, Florida is ranked 4th (22.3%). The overall penalty kill is ranked 6th (189-for-225, 84.0%). At home, the Everblades are ranked 4th (85.4%) and on the road the team ranks 12th (82.4%).
Roster Moves: The most recent moves saw forward Paul Cabana placed on the 7-day IR on Jan. 20. On Jan. 19, forward Steve Saviano recalled to the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League. Saviano has 31 points in 17 games with Florida this season, and head's back to Lowell where earlier this season he notched two points in 16 games.
Seeing Stars!: The Everblades will have four representatives on the American Conference roster in the 2006 Bud Light ECHL All-Star Game on Jan. 25 in Fresno, CA. Forward Ernie Hartlieb was voted as a starter by ECHL coaches and will be joined by forward Dan Sisca and defenseman Chris Lee. All three will be making their ECHL All-Star debuts. In addition, the Everblades will be represented by equipment manager John Jennings on the American Conference team. With Hartlieb starting the game for the American Conference squad, it marks the seventh consecutive season the Everblades have had a starter in the All-Star game.
Home Sweet Home: The Everblades are currently in the midst of a seven-game home stand, which is their second longest of the season. So far, the 'Blades are 1-1-0 after picking up a 4-1 win over Pensacola on Jan. 20 and falling 5-1 to Augusta. During the remainder of the home stand, Florida will host South Carolina twice and Idaho three times. The 'Blades don't hit the road again until Feb. 10 & 11. The Everblades hold a South Division best 15-2-1 record on home ice.
League Leaders: Everblades forward Dan Sisca is tied for 11th in overall scoring with his 42 points and ranked fourth among rookies in scoring ... defenseman Corey Neilson is tied for seventh in scoring among ECHL defeseman with his 29 points...defenseman Chris Lee is 12th among ECHL defenseman with 26 points...forward Ernie Hartlieb leads the league with three power play goals in one game... as a team, the Everblades are tied for the league lead with five power play goals in one game, and hold the longest streak for consecutive home wins with 12.
