Binghamton Devils News Release
HARTFORD, CT - Nathan Bastian tied the game in the third period and Michael McLeod recorded his first pro point, but, the Hartford Wolf Pack came away with a 2-1 overtime victory on Friday night in front of 5,479 at XL Center.
Hartford took a 1-0 lead on the power play as Austin Cangelosi sat in the penalty box for interference. Goaltender Cam Johnson made several key saves on the penalty kill, however, Ryan Gropp located a rebound and lifted the puck over Johnson for the one-goal lead. The tally was Gropp's 13th of the year with assists from Steven Fogarty and Chris Bigras at 12:48 and took the lead into the intermission.
After no scoring in the second period, Colton White, Michael McLeod and Nathan Bastian teamed up to tie the game and eventually force overtime. McLeod dropped the puck to Bastian in the offensive zone and he lifted it over the glove of goaltender Alexandar Georgiev at 5:53 of the third. The goal was Bastian's 10th of the season with the assists from McLeod and White to force overtime and collect a point.
Just 1:29 into overtime, Cole Schneider got his own rebound and beat the sprawled out Johnson for his 16th of the year and the 2-1 Wolf Pack victory. Johnson stopped 31 shots in the overtime loss while Georgiev denied 20 in the win.
