
Cyclones Beat Trenton, 4-1

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati Cyclones veteran Sam Ftorek collected a pair of goals and Cedrick Desjardins stopped 33 shots in a 4-1 triumph over Trenton on Friday night. The victory was Cincinnati's 12th in the last 15 games at U.S. Bank Arena.
The Cyclones opened the scoring at 4:01 of the first period, when seventh-year forward Sam Ftorek netted his tenth goal of the season, with Cory Urquhart and Conrad Martin picking up the assists. Trenton would knot the game at 1-1, when at 19:34, with a two-man advantage on the power play, Mike Pandolfo collected his 31st goal of the season.
There was no scoring in the second period, but Trenton outshot the Cyclones, 10-7 in the frame and 25-15 through the first two periods.
The third period saw Cincinnati explode for three goals. Ftorek collected his second goal of the night and eleventh of the campaign to push the lead to 2-1. Goals 34 seconds apart iced the game for Cincinnati, as Torry Gajda tallied his ninth of the season at 13:04, with Barret Ehgoetz picking up the assist. Jean-Michel Daoust closed the scoring wih his 14th tally at 13:38. Scott Reynolds had the assist.
The Cyclones are now 23-16-1-2, holding a three point lead over Dayton for the North Division lead. Trenton is 20-16-1-4 and is in third place in the North Division. The Cyclones travel to Wheeling on Saturday (Feb. 3) for an 8pm contest. Cincinnati hosts Trenton on Sunday (Feb. 4) at noon at U.S. Bank Arena.
