
Alaska's Schmidt Named HOK Sport Plus Performer Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Alaska defenseman Corbin
Schmidt is the HOK Sport ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for
January after finishing with a plus-minus rating of +12 in 14 games.
The 5-foot-11 and 190-pound Schmidt was even or better in every game in
January and scored seven points (2g-5a), including four points (0g-4a) in
the last five games of the month.
In his second professional season, he is tied for 11th in the ECHL in
plus-minus rating at +15 and ranks third among Alaska defensemen with 19
points (5g-14a) in 39 games.
The 26-year-old had 17 points (7g-10a) and a plus-minus rating of +17 in
50 games as a rookie for Alaska in 2005-06.
The native of Anchorage, Alaska played four seasons at the University of
Alaska Fairbanks where he had 23 points (4g-19a) in 117 career games from
2001-05. He was second among UAF defensemen as a senior with 14 points
(1g-13a) while playing in all 37 games.
He played in the United States Hockey League in 2000-01 and had 42 points
(11g-21a) in 56 regular season games and three points (1g-2a) in six
playoff games for Tri City.
