Lynx add toughness up front with Gillies, Ferguson

Augusta, GA - The Lynx will receive a boost at forward tonight as the team announced it has been assigned forwards Trevor Gillies and Simon Ferguson from the Portland Pirates of the AHL.

Gillies, 28, is a former fan favorite here in Augusta where he collected 269 minutes in penalties in just 46 games with the club during the 2001-02 season. This year with the Pirates he has 94 minutes in the box in 29 games. The 6-3, 235-pound Cambridge, Ontario native also played in his first NHL game last season with the Anaheim Ducks, posting one shot on goal and 21 PIMs.

Ferguson is in his second year with the Portland organization, compiling 13 goals and 38 points in 77 games last season along with 129 minutes in penalties. This year the 6-0, 200-pound right wing has three goals and four points in 37 games for the Pirates, and 67 minutes in penalties.

Also the team announced they have moved Jason Kostadine to the 30-Day IR and placed Shane Hynes on 7-day IR. Defenseman Jason Platt remains on 3-Day IR for the team.

Gillies and Ferguson will be in uniform tonight as Augusta returns to action against the Alaska Aces at 7:35 pm, with tickets on sale at the James Brown Arena box office right up until faceoff. Seats are $18, $15, and $11, with discounts for students, military personnel, and senior citizens.
