Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today a couple of roster moves for their home series versus the Idaho Steelheads. The Moose have assigned right winger Adam Keefe to Victoria, and the Salmon Kings have traded Forward Rich Meloche to the Pensacola Ice Pilots for financial considerations.

"Rich did a good job for us and is going to be a really good ECHL player in the future," said Dan Belisle. "However, with the assignment of Adam Keefe from our affiliate in Manitoba and the recent acquisitions of Paul Ballantyne and Robin Gomez, we couldn't give Rich the opportunity he needs to get his pro career started. We wish him well and thank him for his contributions to our club in the short time he was with us."

Meloche, a 5-foot-11, 183-lb native of Oakville, ON, has played two games this season and earned a +1 rating and two penalty minutes.

Keefe, a 5-foot-10, 195-lb native of Kingston, ON has played 20 games this season with the Moose and earned four points, a +1 rating, and 83 penalty minutes. He was assigned to the Salmon Kings during their road trip in Utah in late November, and helped Victoria split the series versus the Grizzlies. He then returned to Manitoba before the Salmon Kings following home series.

"We are pleased to welcome back Adam Keefe to our club," said Belisle. "Adam is a rugged and hard working right winger who should add grit to our line up. With five consecutive games against Idaho, his presence is much welcomed."

In 28 games with the Toledo Storm of the ECHL in 2005-06, Keefe tallied 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) and 174 penalty minutes. In 11 playoff games with the Storm, he scored two goals and accumulated 50 penalty minutes.
