Phoenix RoadRunners News Release
PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, an affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Antonio Rampage, have agreed to terms with defenseman Jeff MacMillan on a standard player's contract.
MacMillan, 27, comes to Phoenix after collecting three goals, 10 points, and 103 penalty minutes in 31 games this season with Vienna of the Austrian Erste Bank EHL League. The Durham, Ontario native and eighth-year professional appeared in four games with the Dallas Stars during the 2003-04 season and made his NHL debut on Dec. 7, 2003 at Anaheim. MacMillan has skated in 377 career American Hockey League games over five seasons between the Utah Grizzlies, Hartford Wolf Pack, and most recently the Syracuse Crunch in 2005-06, registering totals of 21 goals, 57 points, and 665 penalty minutes.
He also appeared in 134 career games in the now-defunct International Hockey League (IHL) with Utah and the Michigan K-Wings, tallying five goals and 23 points, along with 159 penalty minutes. MacMillan has recorded 30 goals, 92 points and 952 penalty minutes in 553 career professional games. He was a seventh round draft choice of the Dallas Stars at the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
"Jeff is a tremendous addition to our hockey club at this time of year as we begin the push for the playoffs," said RoadRunners Head Coach Ron Filion. "Not only does he give us another experienced defenseman, but he brings a strong veteran presence to our locker room. We look forward to him joining our line-up shortly."
MacMillan was placed on the three-day injured reserve this afternoon.
