Cyclones Sign Nick Martens

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, announced Friday (Feb. 2) that defenseman Nick Martens has signd with the club. The 6-foot-1, 198 pounder is in his second professional season. Martens was released from his contract with San Antonio (AHL) and was a free agent. In 23 games with the Rampage, Martens tallied four assists this season.

Martens professional career began last season with Grand Rapids (AHL), playing in 67 games and adding four goals and twelve assists for 16 points.

Prior to turning pro, Nick played four seasons at the University of Michigan, appearing in 129 games and netting seven goals and 24 assists for 31 points. Twice, he was part of teams that advanced to the 'Frozen Four' of college hockey and in all four years competed on NCAA tournament teams that advanced to the regional finals.

Martens will be in uniform for the Cyclones tonight against the Trenton Titans. Face off is at 7:30pm at U.S. Bank Arena.
