Coyotes Recall Maccelli from Tucson Roadrunners

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Arizona Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong announced today that the Coyotes have recalled forward Matias Maccelli from the Tucson Roadrunners, the Club's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate.

The 21-year-old Maccelli has recorded 7-14-21, a +2 rating and eight penalty minutes (PIM) in 21 games with the Roadrunners this season. He currently leads Tucson in both goals and assists.

The 5-foot-11, 176-pound forward ranks tied for fifth in assists and fourth in points among AHL rookies. The forward was named AHL Rookie of the Month for November after posting 14 points (6-8-14) across Tucson's eight games that month.

The Turku, FIN native spent the previous two seasons playing for Ilves of the Liiga, Finland's top professional league, where he registered 69 points (28-41-69) in 94 games from 2019-21. Drafted by the Coyotes in the fourth round (98th overall) in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Maccelli was also an alternate captain for Finland at the 2020 World Junior Championship, recording five points (2-3-5) in seven games.
