Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond Suspended by ECHL
December 20, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - The ECHL office today announced the suspension of Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond for five games due to a violation of the league's compensation guidelines.
The alleged violation occurred over the summer with a promissory note to a player being recruited by the Condors. The player has never played in a regular season game with the Condors and he received no actual compensation from the team. Raymond will miss the game tonight as well as games on December 22nd against Long Beach, December 26th against Fresno, and December 28th and 31st both against the Las Vegas Wranglers.
"While we think the penalty is extreme, there is no appeals process with the league on a ruling such as this," said Condors President Matthew Riley. "The ECHL would concur that Marty, and the entire organization, was very professional and honest in their investigation. Although Marty has a lot of coaching experience, he is relatively new to this league and therefore all of the league rules, as is our entire organization. It was an isolated that was corrected before it was carried through."
Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Centennial Garden tonight against the Idaho Steelheads. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Tonight's game features the annual Project Warm Families Coat Drive, sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and News Radio 970 KGET. Anyone that donates a new or gently used coat will be able to get in for just $1 on Monday night.
It's not too late to secure premium seat locations for 2004-2005 Condors season by purchasing a Condors Mini-plan. Also, what better place to have a Christmas party than at a Condors game?
