Texas Wildcatters News Release


Beaumont, TX (December 20, 2004) – The Texas Wildcatters, an affiliate of the Florida Panthers (NHL) and San Antonio Rampage (AHL), played three games this weekend, posting a 0-2-1 record.

On Friday, the Wildcatters traveled down I-10 to take on the Louisiana IceGators for the fifth of 12 meetings this season. The Wildcatters lost 2-1 in a tight-checking game that allowed the Wildcatters to only get a total of 21 shots on Louisiana netminder Nathan Marsters. Netminder Phil Osaer faced 27 shots, turning aside 25.

On Saturday, the Wildcatters returned to Ford Arena to face the Charlotte Checkers. The game ended in a shootout with the Checkers on top 4-3. Davis Parley faced 42 shots to give the Wildcatters their first point in eight games.

On Sunday, the Wildcatters dropped the rematch against the Charlotte Checkers by a final score of 3-1. The Wildcatters were able to generate a franchise record 53 shots on goal. The lone Wildcatters goal came from defenseman Dean Stork. Osaer faced 40 shots in the loss.

The Wildcatters are on a five-day holiday break, players have to be back in Beaumont on December 25. The next game for the ‘Catters is Sunday, December 26 against the Mississippi Sea Wolves at 5:05 p.m.

Shooting Gallery

The Wildcatters set records for the most shots in a period with 24 in the second period against Charlotte on Sunday. They rang up a new team record for shots in a game finishing the night with 53 shots. The old team record for shots in a game was 43 against the Pensacola Ice Pilots 12/11/04.

Rampage Update

Jeremy Swanson played in his first AHL game last night and was a plus three. San Antonio defeated the Norfolk Admirals 3-2. Lou Dickenson is also on call up and had two penalty minutes last night. The Rampage are now 11-12-6 on the year.

Home Cookin'

The Wildcatters are in the midst of an eight game home-stand which stretches through January 9th. The ‘Catters have played two of the eight games at home and will play their next game on Sunday, December 26th against division rival Mississippi Sea Wolves. Makin' the Cut:

Texas Wildcatters defenceman James DeMone was one of the final six selected from the Canadian reality show "Making the Cut." As part of his winnings DeMone received an invitation to try out for the Vancouver Canucks at their next training camp whenever the NHL resumes.

The Wildcatters have only one game this upcoming week because of the holidays. The game is against the Mississippi Sea Wolves. The ‘Catters are 1-2-1 against the Sea Wolves. Andrew Ianiero leads the team against Mississippi with 6 points (2G-4A), Jason Kostadine leads the team in PIM against Mississippi with 33 minutes in four games. The division rival currently sits nine points ahead of Texas in the standings.
