ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades finished out this past week of action with a 2-0-1 record. The âBlades enter this week's action with a record of 14-11-1 (29 pts., 3rd South Division).
THIS WEEK (All Times Eastern)
Tuesday, December 21 at Pensacola Ice Pilots 8:05 p.m.
GAME NOTES: Everblades and Ice Pilots meet for the third of eight times this season, and for the second of four times at the Pensacola Civic Center. The Everblades are 0-1-1 this season vs. Pensacola. The Ice Pilots won the first meeting of the year 5-4 on Oct. 30 in Pensacola, and then collected a 2-1 overtime victory over the âBlades in Florida on Dec. 14. Last year the Everblades finished with a 2-3-2 record vs. Pensacola, including going 1-2-0 in Pensacola. The Ice Pilots enter this week's action with a record of 14-4-2 (30 pts., 2nd South Division), and have won five straight games. The Everblades hold an all-time record of 22-10-7 vs. Pensacola.
Wednesday, December 22 vs. Pensacola Ice Pilots 7:30 p.m.
GAME NOTES: The âBlades and Ice Pilots meet up for the back-end of the home-and-home series on Wednesday night at Germain Arena. The meeting will be the fourth between the teams this year, and the second of four in Florida. The game will be the third of four played between the two division rivals in a three-week span.
LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
Tuesday, December 14 vs. Pensacola 2-1 OTL
The Everblades earned a tie in the standings with a 2-1 overtime loss to the Ice Pilots on Tuesday night at Germain Arena. A hard-fought, action filled game saw the team's battle to a 1-1 regulation finish before the Ice Pilots won the game 1:09 into the extra period. Prior to that, the goaltenders ruled the show with Craig Kowalski for Florida and Frederic Cloutier for Pensacola making several big saves to keep their team in the game. The only goals that got past the net minders both came in the second period. Florida opened the scoring on Keith Anderson's fifth goal of the season at 5:11 of the middle period. The Ice Pilots battled their way back into the game at 13:34 to tie the game. Kowalski picked up the tie stopping 27 of 29 Pensacola shots. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-3, PK: 2-for-2.
Friday, December 17 vs. Augusta 3-2 W
The Everblades picked up the first of back-to-back wins over the Lynx with 3-2 victory on Friday night at Germain Arena. After a scoreless first period, the Lynx jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the second period with a power play and shorthanded goal. However, the Everblades battled back picked up a power play goal by Damian Surma at 11:36 of the second period. Less than a minute later Brent McDonald tied the game at 12:25. With the game tied in the third period, Keith Anderson collected the eventual game winner at 5:43 to open the one-goal Florida lead. âBlades goaltender Rob Zepp withstood fierce pressure in the waning moments to allow Florida to hang on for the win. Zepp earned the win by stopping 22 of 24 Augusta shots. Florida special teams: PP: 1-for-5, PK: 1-for-2.
Saturday, December 18 vs. Augusta 5-2 W
The Everblades won their second straight and eighth game in their last 11 games with a 5-2 thumping of the Lynx on Saturday night at Germain Arena. Augusta opened the scoring, but Florida stormed back with a pair of late first period goals to open the lead. Matt Hendricks and Kris Vernarsky each scored in the opening period for the âBlades. Vernarsky's goal came short-handed, while Hendricks' was an even strength tally. Vernarsky notched his second goal of the night early in the third period to give the âBlades a little breathing room. After the Lynx closed the lead to one midway through the third period, the âBlades regained the two-goal advantage with five minutes remaining in the period on Brandon Coalter's second goal of the season. Hendricks sealed the win with an empty net tally with 1:18 remaining in the game. Craig Kowalski started in goal, and picked up the win stopping 27 of 29 Augusta shots. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-3, PK: 2-for-2.

Streaking!: Everblades rookie forward Matt Hendricks has picked up a point in nine of the last 13 games (8g, 7a)...Brad Chuch has notched a point in six of the last ten games (4g, 9a) ...Steve Saviano has collected points in seven of the last ten games (1g, 10a) ...Craig Kowalski is 6-1-1, with a 2.15 GAA in his last seven starts.
League Leaders: Matt Hendricks enters this week's action ranked tied for seventh in the ECHL in scoring with his 26 points. He is also third in scoring among all ECHL rookies. Hendricks' 13 goals are second among ECHL rookies, while his 13 assists is tied for fourth among first-year players...Brad Church & Damian Surma are the among the top five in the ECHL in plus/minus. Milestones Accomplished: Several âBlades players have reached milestones this season, here's a look at what they've accomplished: Rob Zepp played in his 100th career game as an Everblade on Dec. 11 vs. South Carolina, and reached the 100 games played mark in his pro career on Nov. 5 at Long Beach...Brad Chuch and Matt Pagnutti reached the 500 games played mark in their careers on Nov. 26 against Greenville. Each player saw their pro career start in 1996-97, Church also picked up his 300th career point on 12/18 vs. AUG with an assist...Tim O'Connell skated in his 300th professional game on Dec. 7 against Gwinnett...Keith Anderson reached the 200 career games played plateau on Oct. 30 vs. Pensacola.
Approaching Milestones: In addition, a couple Everblades players are closing in on milestones, here's a look at who's doing what: Brent McDonald is needs to play in 19 more games to reach the 300 games played plateau in his career...Matt Pagnutti is two games shy of skating in his 100th game as a member of the Florida Everblades...
