
Mississippi Flies High On Road Trip To Canada And Alaska

BILOXI, Miss. â The Mississippi Sea Wolves registered seven of a possible eight points last week and wrapped up their season-high six-game road trip to Victoria and Anchorage by going 4-1-1.
On Monday, Mississippi completed its three-game Canadian stop by defeating Victoria 4-2 and going 2-1-0 over three games against the Salmon Kings. The Sea Wolves went to Anchorage, Alaska and edged the Aces 5-4 in overtime on Friday, blanked Alaska 3-0 on Saturday before dropping a 3-2 overtime decision on Sunday.
After 24 of 72 regular season ECHL games, the Sea Wolves are 11-10-3 with 25 points. Mississippi is 6-5-1 at home, 5-5-2 on the road, 1-2 in overtime games and 2-1 in shootouts.
Mississippi is in fifth place in the South Division and sits in 10th place in the American Conference.

* Mississippi's Jason Wolfe, who was playing in his 100th pro game, made 23 saves to collect the win
* Alaska's Peter Aubry turned aside 17 shots to suffer the loss

* Alaska's Ryan Bast won the game in the extra session at the 3:04 mark
* Mississippi's Chris Cava netted both Sea Wolves goals, giving him three tallies over the last two games
* Aces other scorers were Charles Linglet and B.J. Young
* Sea Wolves goaltender Matt Underhill turned aside 28 saves only to suffer the overtime defeat
* Alaska's Peter Aubry registered the win by making 19 stops

PLAYER OF THE WEEK â Right wing Jay Legault is riding a seven-game point streak (4g-8a) after scoring three goals in consecutive games last week, including two game-winning goals and a power-play tally plus two assists. A native of Peterborough, Ontario, Legault is registering a point-per-game pace totaling four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 14 games this season. The 25-year-old Legault is in his fifth professional season and first year with Mississippi after being selected by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the third round, 72nd overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK â Matt Underhill went 1-0-1 highlighted by earning his first shutout of the season on Saturday at Alaska by making 30 saves in a 3-0 win. The 25-year-old Underhill followed it up with 28 saves falling to the Aces 3-2 in overtime. A native of Campbell River, British Columbia, Underhill has compiled a team-leading 2.87 goals-against average and .914 save percentage. Underhill was selected by the Calgary Flames in the sixth round, 170th overall in 1999.
