
Cincinnati Cyclones Acquire Defenseman T.J. McElroy

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have acquired defenseman T.J. McElroy from the Idaho Steelheads in exchange for future considerations. McElroy is expected to arrive in Cincinnati in time for Friday night's game against the Trenton Devils.
In another, related, move, Nashville has re-assigned Cyclones forward Andrew Martin to Idaho.
McElroy, 25, is in his second professional season. The Cyclones are the third team that he has played for in 2007-08. T.J. played in South Carolina before being dealt to Idaho. In 16 games with Idaho, McElroy had a goal and an assist. For the year, he has 33 games, three goals and twelve assists for 15 points and 50 penalty minutes. In his rookie season with South Carolina, T.J. appeared in 65 games with eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points and 110 penalty minutes.
"T.J. McElroy will help our defensive corps," Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "He will be in a position to come in and contribute to the back end immediately."
The Cincinnati Cyclones open a four game homestand Wednesday morning (10am) when Mississippi comes to town.
