Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that they have signed forward Yuri Moscevsky (muh-SHAHV-skee) to an ECHL contract. Moscevsky began his professional career with Elmira head coach Steve Martinson with the San Diego Gulls, then of the West Coast Hockey League, during his rookie season in 1999-2000.
Moscevsky, 29, is a 6'4, 225-pound native of Milwaukee, WI, that is currently in his ninth professional season in a career that has spanned the Central, West Coast, East Coast, American and North American (Quebec) Hockey Leagues. In 292 career games, Moscevsky has 27 goals and 24 assists for 51 points while totaling 1,292 penalty minutes. One hundred forty-two of his career games have come at the American Hockey League level. Skating this season with the Summun Chiefs (LNAH), Moscevsky appeared in 16 games with two goals and three points along with 114 penalty minutes.
"Besides being tough, Yuri can really skate and hit," Martinson commented before Sunday's game in Johnstown. "He's an intimidating guy to play against and was a legitimate heavyweight in the American League and he will be a big addition."
"When you look our goal scorers, guys like (Frank) Littlejohn, (Chaz) Johnson and (Bobby) Robins fighting guys that aren't offensive players, it's not really balanced," Martinson continued. "We want the physical play, but we can't continue to have these guys in the box with non-scorers. Signing Moscevsky and getting Bruce (Watson) back in the line-up should ease the burden on guys like Frankie, Chaz and Bobby."
Watson underwent an appendectomy during the Christmas break and has not yet begun practicing with the club since the surgery.

The club also announced today that right wing Jim McKenzie was reassigned by Ottawa (NHL) to their American Hockey League affiliate in Binghamton while left wing Justin Todd has been released by the club.
Todd was pointless in three games for the Jackals with 12 penalty minutes and an even +/- rating.
