Bakersfield keeps pace in National Conference

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors finished off the week with a 3-2 overtime victory on the road against the Stockton Thunder Saturday night, and commence a four-game homestand Tuesday night against the Victoria Salmon Kings. Victoria comes back to town on Friday as well, and the Condors also host the Utah Grizzlies on Saturday.

The Condors are 13-22-8 on the season and in 4th place in the Pacific Division, trailing the third place Stockton Thunder by seven points. The Phoenix RoadRunners hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the National Conference, and lead the Condors by just four points in the standings. Bakersfield has three games in hand and two games remaining head-to-head with Phoenix.

LW Mark Derlago tied a Condors record by scoring in his seventh consecutive game, but Bakersfield couldn't hold back the visiting Grizzlies, dropping a narrow 3-2 setback Tuesday night. The Condors six-game unbeaten streak came to a close with the loss. LW Evan Kotsopoulos also scored for Bakersfield, and G Michel Robinson took the loss in relief of G Yutaka Fukufuji, who left the game injured after the first period.

STOCKTON 4 vs. Condors 0

G Tim Boron made 25 saves, including several on early Condors chances, to earn his third shutout of the season in a 4-0 win for Stockton. Condors G Michel Robinson made 37 saves in the loss.

Saturday, Feb. 2

Condors 3 vs. STOCKTON 2, OT

F Andrew Ianiero scored 27 seconds into overtime to lift the Condors to a 3-2 victory over the Stockton Thunder Saturday night. It was the final game of the regular season in Stockton for the Condors, who went 3-2 at the Stockton Arena. G Michel Robinson picked up the win with a 33-save performance, while C Sean Venedam and F Todd Griffith also lit the lamp.

# PLAYER AND TEAM NOTES: LW Mark Derlago was held without a goal on Friday night for the first time since Jan. 8, ending his team-record-tying seven-game goal scoring streak. Second on the team with 18 goals this season, Derlago had 10 tallies during the streak, including three multi-goal efforts.

# F Sean Venedam had his seven-game point streak come to an end on Friday. The Condors captain, who notched 1g-1a on Saturday, had 1g-7a-8pts during the streak.

# G Michel Robinson has made over 30 saves in six of his eight starts this season.

# F Andrew Ianiero, who had a six-game point streak end on Friday, has 12 points (4g-8a) and is a +10 in his last nine games.

# D Quinn Fair signed with the Condors on Friday and played both games over the weekend in Stockton. Fair ranks in the top three among all-time Condors defensemen in goals (24), assists (67) and points (91) and ranks fifth overall with 233 career games.

# D Reagan Leslie was activated from 3-day IR on Jan. 29.

# F Maxime Lincourt was activated from 3-day IR on Feb. 1

# G Yutaka Fukufuji was placed on 3-day IR on Feb. 1 and is eligible to be activated

# G Zach Sikich was added on Feb. 1 as emergency back-up goaltender

# D Jay Langager (7-day) and C Mike Hofstrand (30-day) are both eligible to return, but remain on IR.

PROMOTIONAL NOTES:

On Tuesday, Feb. 5 the Condors will play host to the Victoria Salmon Kings for the My 45 and 96.9 La Caliente Help For The Homeless Canned Food Collection. Donate two non-perishable items and receive $1.00 terrace admission to Tuesday's game and free Mardi Gras beads.

On Friday, Feb. 8 the Condors match up again with the Salmon Kings for the Veggie Tales and Christian Rock Concert, presented by KERI 1180am, Barber Honda and Island Style. Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber from Veggie Tales will be here to meet the fans and pose for photos. Also, fans can check out Christian recording artist Wavorly, along with other bands performing during the Condors game as well as on the Rabobank Arena plaza before and after the game. The concert begins at 5 p.m. on the plaza. Everyone in attendance will also receive a 'Colonel Claw'd for President' poster.

Saturday, Feb. 9 the Condors will hold the Hollywood Jersey Off Our Back Raffle & Auction, sponsored by 96-5 KBKO, American Business Machines and Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. Following the game, the Hollywood-style game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off, with all proceeds being donated to the Children's Miracle Network. Also, everyone in attendance will have the chance to win one of five to be given away.

Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m. for all three games.
