Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
Biloxi, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves defeated Pensacola last Tuesday and Columbia on Thursday and Saturday to go 3-0-0 last week. Mississippi makes its' only trip out of the South Division this week, visiting Cincinnati on Wednesday and Saturday and Dayton on Friday and Sunday.

The Mississippi Sea Wolves scored seven consecutive goals then survived a five-goal third period offensive onslaught from the Pensacola Ice Pilots to win 8-5 at the Pensacola Civic Center on Tuesday.
Mississippi got out to a 1-0 lead when Mark Hurtubise won a faceoff in the neutral zone to Lance Monych, who broke in over the blueline and fired the puck past Ice Pilots goalie Cam Ellsworth for his 19th goal of the season at the 7:20 mark of the first period. Pat Oliveto broke in two-on-one with Mark Hurtubise and fired the forward's feed past Ellsworth at 9:48.
The Sea Wolves offense continued to fire at the Pensacola net through the second period. Jason Tejchma scored his 16th goal of the season with the Sea Wolves shorthanded from the top of the right circle, firing a wrist shot past Ellsworth at 1:22 of the second. At 8:59 of the second, Ryan Menei banged the rebound of Chris Cava's shot past Ellsworth, who was down and out on the play. Marek Kvapil scored his first of two on the evening, cashing in the rebound of Michael Couch's point shot on the power play at 11:20. Tejchma notched his second of the period, poking the rebound of a shot from Pat Oliveto at 14:16. Kvapil added his second of the game to make it 7-0 for Mississippi when he found a loose puck in a goalmouth schmozzle and fired into the open net at 16:02.
Pensacola began to claw back in the third period when Michael Cohen cut the lead to six when he pounded the rebound of Mathieu Roy's shot past Sea Wolves goalie Morgan Cey on the power play at 7:17. Dan Sullivan one-timed a centering pass from Roy past Cey to snip the Sea Wolves lead to five at 9:20 of the third. Bryan Esner would add another goal for Pensacola at 12:08 before Cohen notched his second of the game, finding the rebound of a shot from Phil Youngclaus and blasting it home at 13:57. Eric Fabian would add Pensacola's fifth goal at 15:24 before Lance Monych fired into the empty net for Mississippi at 19:02 for his 20th goal of the season.
Mississippi finished the game 1-for-6 on the power play, and Morgan Cey made 38 saves to earn the win.
Thursday, January 31 vs. Columbia, 2-1 W
The Mississippi Sea Wolves knocked off the Columbia Inferno by the score of 2-1 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Tuesday evening.
Travis Lisabeth got the Sea Wolves on the board when he picked off an errant lead pass from Columbia's Patrick Wellar and fired it past Inferno goaltender Jeff Jakaitis at 11:11 of the first period. Columbia erased the lead when Tyson Marsh found the rebound of Steve McJannet's shot and fired it into the net for a shorthand goal at 18:06.
Marek Kvapil scored the game-winner when Ryan Menei sprung him on a breakaway and he tucked the puck into the neat, beating Jakaitis with a backhand move at 14:37 of the second period.
Ryan Munce made 27 saves to earn the win, including nine stops in the scoreless third period. Mississippi's penalty kill was a perfect 7-for-7, and killed off two third period power plays.
Saturday, February 2 vs. Columbia, 4-2 W
Mike Hartwick earned his first professional point, scoring the game-winning goal for Mississippi on a shot through traffic from the right point as the Mississippi Sea Wolves defeated the Columbia Inferno 4-2 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Saturday night.
Columbia got on the board first when Jeff Miles found the back of the Sea Wolves net with a shot from the right wing that beat Sea Wolves goaltender Ryan Munce on the glove side at 11:50 of the first period.
The Sea Wolves stormed back in the second period, evening the score at one apiece when Ryan Menei blasted the rebound of Jason Tejchma's shot past Columbia's Todd Ford at 3:26. Less than two minutes later, Travis Lisabeth scored his second goal in as many games, tucking the puck under Ford to give the Sea Wolves a 2-1 lead at the 5:05 mark. At 16:44 of the third period, Lisabeth recovered Chase Trull's blocked shot and slid it back to Hartwick, who fired through traffic and found the net for the game-winner at 16:44. The goal was Hartwick's first professional point in 31 games this season.
The Inferno cut the lead to one when Daniel Sparre chipped in a rebound on the power play for his 19th goal of the season just 55 seconds into the third period. Mississippi held on to the lead until Gio Flamminio fired into the empty net at the 19:59 mark to seal the victory for the Pack.
The Sea Wolves were 0-for-6 on the power play, and Ryan Munce made 26 saves to earn his 13th win of the season.

The Sea Wolves travel to Dayton for the first time since January 31, 2003... Mississippi is 0-4-0 all-time against Dayton... Mississippi has never faced Cincinnati... The Sea Wolves are 1-6-1 in eight regular season games played in Ohio, with the only win coming against the Toledo Storm at the now-demolished Toledo Sports Arena on January 22, 2000.
