Charlotte Checkers News Release
CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Checkers snapped a three-game skid with a 3-0 win at Pensacola on Saturday, December 31st. The Checkers had lost a pair of games to Greenville earlier in the week (1-8; 4-5 SO) and to Pensacola on Friday night. The Checkers opened 2006 with a shootout win over Augusta on Monday, January 2nd. The Checkers sit just five points out of first place behind Florida and Gwinnett which are tied for first place with 40 points.

Monday, December 26, 2005 vs. Greenville, L, 1-8
The Greenville Grrrowl scored four goals in the second period en route to an 8-1 win over the Charlotte Checkers in front of 6,371 fans Monday night at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Greenville's John Snowden scored a hat trick earning the First Star of the game.
The Grrrowl opened a 3-0 lead, on two goals by Snowden and one by Duncan Dalmao, before Juris Stals scored for the Checkers at the 7:16 mark of the second period. Greenville answered with goals from Cody Blanshan, the Third Star of the game, and Brock Radunske to finish out the second period with a 5-1 advantage.
Tuesday, December 27, 2005 @ Greenville, L, 4-5 (shootout loss) The Charlotte Checkers had something to prove Tuesday night in Greenville. After being thrashed Monday at home by the Grrrowl 8-1, the Checkers played much better Tuesday and earned a point in a 5-4 shootout loss in at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville.
Dusty Jamieson's second goal of the game with just 2:15 to play in the third period tied the game at 4-4. After a scoreless, five-minute sudden death overtime session, the Grrrowl edged the Checkers by outscoring Charlotte two to one through six rounds of the shootout.
Friday, December 30, 2005 at Pensacola, L, 1-4
The Pensacola Ice Pilots continued their dominance over the Charlotte Checkers Friday night with a convincing 4-1 victory at the Pensacola Civic Center. The Ice Pilots got goals from Tyler Scott, Bryson Busniuk, Brian Collins and Nick Lindberg, while Kenton Smith scored the lone Charlotte goal.
Pensacola goalie Todd Ford made 25 saves to notch the victory while rarely being tested. Checkers goalie Chris Holt faced a hefty 46 shots and took the loss.
Saturday, December 31, 2005 at Pensacola, W, 3-0
An up and down week for the Charlotte Checkers finished on an up note. Checkers goalie Jeff Glass made 51 saves en route to his second shutout of the season, and Charlotte got goals from Jake Ortmeyer, Ryan Fultz and Juris Stals in a 3-0 victory over the Pensacola Ice Pilots Saturday night in Florida.
The Checkers snapped a five-game losing streak at the Pensacola Civic Center dating back to last season. The win also improved Charlotte's record to 1-2-1 on its current stretch of nine games in 13 days, and improved its road game record back over .500 at 9-8-2. Pensacola goalie Todd Ford took the loss making 34 saves, while the Ice Pilots outshot the Checkers for the game 51-37.

- Rawlyk ranks seventh in the league amongst defenseman in points with 25. Rawlyk also leads the league amongst defenseman with eight power play goals and 113 shots.
- Goalie Jeff Glass ranks third amongst goalies in shootout percentage (.810) stopping 17-of-21 shots.
- Glass also picked up his second shutout of the season on Saturday, December 31st in a 3-0 win over Pensacola.
- The Checkers rank fourth in the league in home power play percentage (25.4).
- The Checkers rank second in the league in road and overall penalty killing record with 87.5 and 85.6, respectively.
