THE WEEK AHEAD Wednesday, January 4th Inferno @ Charlotte Checkers 7:05pm

The Inferno is 2-0-1 this season and 18-6-5 all-time against the Checkers. The Checkers are in third place in the South Division with 35 points (16-12-3).

Friday, January 6th Inferno @ Florida Everblades 7:30pm

Florida is tied for first place in the South Division with 40 points (19-8-2). This is the third meeting between these two teams and the Inferno is 1-1-0 this season against the Everblades.

Saturday, January 7th Inferno @ Gwinnett Gladiators 7:35pm

The Inferno is 1-2-0 this season and 8-6-1 all-time against the Gladiators. This is the fourth of nine games between the Inferno and Gladiators. Gwinnett is tied for first place with 40 points, along with Florida.

Sunday, January 8th Inferno vs. Greenville Grrrowl 7:05pm

Greenville is in fourth place in the South Division with 31 points. This is the fourth meeting between the Inferno and Grrrowl. The Inferno is 2-1-0 this season against the Grrrowl.

LAST WEEK Monday, December 26th Inferno 2 GWINNETT 3

The Columbia Inferno scored two quick goals in the third period to tie the game but could not hold on to the momentum as they are defeated by the Gwinnett Gladiators 3-2. Gwinnett scored both of their goals in the second period at 5:13 and 16:56 by Guillaume Desbiens and Brad Schell. Leon Hayward started the scoring for the Inferno at 8:24 of the third on the power play. Eric Nelson tied the game at 8:45, scoring his fourth goal of the season. Steve Slaton scored the game-winning goal at 12:30 for the Gladiators on the power play.

Wednesday, December 28th Inferno 2 WHEELING 8

The Wheeling Nailers toppled the Inferno 8-2 as Columbia (13-13-3) records their third straight loss in a row. Newcomer Marc-Andre Bernier, recently assigned by the Manitoba Moose, scored the first goal of the game for Columbia at 2:01 of the first period. The Wheeling Nailers scored four unanswered goals in the first period to take a 4-1 lead at the end of one. John Longo scored his fourth goal of the season at 2:46 of the second period with help from Chanse Fitzpatrick and Chris Busby. Wheeling added one more goal in the second period to go ahead 5-2. The Nailers scored the next three goals as Bo Cheesman notched his first hat trick of the season. Trevor Cunning was between the pipes for the Inferno stopping 42 of 50 shots on goal. Wheeling outshot the Inferno 50-15.

Friday, December 30th Inferno 2 WHEELING 5

The Wheeling Nailers scored three goals in less than three minutes in the third period to steal the win from the Columbia Inferno, 5-2. F.P. Guenette scored at 1:53 into the first period to give the Inferno a quick 1-0 lead. The goal was on the power play from Chanse Fitzpatrick and Gary Gladue. Gladue scored his first goal of the season on the power play to give the Inferno a 2-0 lead at 9:15 of the second period. Guenette and Jay Legault had the assists. Wheeling's Bissonnette brought the Nailers back to within one at 14:15 when he scored on a 5-on-3 power play opportunity. The Nailers scored four goals as they dominated the entire third period and outshot the Inferno 41-21 (34-12 in the last two periods). Columbia (13-14-3) had 12 power play opportunities and capitalized on two of them.

Saturday, December 31st Inferno 4 JOHNSTOWN 7

The Columbia Inferno dropped their fifth straight game as the Johnstown Chiefs dominate in the third period to take the 7-4 win. The Inferno went scoreless in the first period but scored four goals in the second. Chanse Fitzpatrick tied the game at one when he sailed the puck passed goaltender Jonathan Boutin at 2:59 with assists to Dallas Flaman and Chris Busby. Johnstown went ahead 3-1 scoring two goals in less than a minute at the 11 minute mark. Travis Lisabeth answered back at 12:15 as he nets his sixth goal of the season from Gary Gladue and Mike Stathopoulos. Leon Hayward tied the game at 13:58 on the power play from Gladue and Lisabeth. Lisabeth scored his second goal of the night, unassisted, at 18:51 to give the Inferno a 4-3 lead at the end of two periods. Johnstown scored four unanswered goals in the third period to give the Inferno their 15th lose of the season.

Sunday, January 1st Inferno 3 DAYTON 8

The Dayton Bombers took a 2-0 lead in the first period. Columbia came back and tied the game with goals by Chanse Fitzpatrick and Leon Hayward but Dayton answered back with two more goals to go up 4-2. The Inferno managed to scored one more time by Travis Lisabeth before the Bombers scored four unanswered goals in the third period.
