
'Blades get two assigned to team from Lowell

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president & general manager Craig Brush, along with head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forward Steve Saviano and goaltender Kevin Nastiuk have been assigned to the team from the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League.
Saviano returns to the Everblades after skating in 16 games with the Lock Monsters, notching two goals and one assist. The 24-year-old began the season with 14 points (5g, 9a) in nine games with the Everblades before getting called up on November 22. The native of Reading, Mass. made his professional debut in 2004-05 with Lowell notching one assist in six games. Saviano finished the '04-'05 campaign by scoring 52 points in 58 games with the Everblades.
Nastiuk, a 4th round draft pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in 2003, joins the Everblades after seeing action in 11 games with Lowell this season, posting a 1-7-3 record with a 3.45 goals against average and an .887 save percentage. The 20-year-old is in his first professional season after spending four years at the junior level with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League.
Last season Nastiuk posted a 23-18-1 record with a 2.18 GAA in 42 games with Medicine Hat. In 2003-04, the native of Edmonton, Alberta helped lead the Tigers to the WHL Championship by compiling a record of 40-19-8 with a GAA of 2.77 in 68 regular season games, and posting a 16-4-0 record in 20 playoff games. Overall in his junior career, Nastiuk posted a record of 82-67-11 with a 3.17 GAA in 171 games.
The Everblades return to action Tuesday, January 3, 2006 when they take on the Pensacola Ice Pilots at 8:05 p.m. from the Pensacola Civic Center in Pensacola, FL.
