Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Falcons forward Brad Both has taken a leave of absence from the team in order to tend to a situation that has arisen with his family back in his native Ontario. The rugged winger, who helped lead Fresno to a Taylor Cup Championship and within one game of another in the West Coast Hockey League, has appeared in seven games this season and scored one goal while racking up 87 penalty minutes. Both has been suspended from the Falcons roster so that the club may retain his playing rights if he is able to return.
"Obviously, we're sad to see Brad go, but family always comes first, and we support him and his family during this difficult time," said Falcons head coach and general manager Matt Thomas. "We fully expect to see Brad back in a Falcons uniform this season and continuing to contribute to our team's success."
The club also traded goaltender Mike Brown today to the Columbia Inferno in exchange for financial considerations. Brown played five games for Fresno and finished with a record of 2-1-1 with a 3.16 goals against average and .889 save percentage.
Finally, the Falcons placed rookie forward Brett Hammond on seven-day injured reserve. Hammond sustained a concussion when he was hit from behind during the team's 6-5 overtime loss against the Bakersfield Condors on Friday.
Fresno concludes a six-game road trip and a stretch of 12 of 13 away from home when they travel to face the Victoria Salmon Kings for three games on Jan. 5, 6, and 7.
The Falcons will then finally return home to Save Mart Center on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. when they take on the Florida Everblades. The game is a Carl's Jr. Two-for-Tuesday, with two-for-one coupons available at participating Carl's Jr. restaurants. Individual tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets and Save Mart Center's box office with prices ranging from $8 - $22. For complete ticket information and an arena map of Save Mart Center, visit www.fresnofalcons.com/singletickets.html, or contact the Falcons front office directly at (559) 485-PUCK (7825).
