San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls have announced that center Alex Kim has been named the Jewelry Designs by Stuart Benjamin & Company and Kristy's MVP Player of the Month for December. Kim will be presented the award in a pre-game ceremony before Saturday's game against the Utah Grizzlies.

Kim led the Gulls in all sorts of offensive categories in December: points (19), assists (10), plus-minus (+13), game-winning goals (three), short-handed goals (two) and shots (48). His nine goals during the month was tied for the club lead with Jesse Bennefield.

The 26-year-old from Fullerton, Calif. had at least one point in 10 of 11 games, including the last nine. Kim's current nine-game point streak ties Guillaume Fournier for the club high this season and is one shy of his career-high of 10, set in 2003-04.

Of the 10 games in which he had a point, six were multipoint efforts. Kim also had three points in three of those games: Dec. 10 at Utah, Dec. 17 vs. Bakersfield and Dec. 30 at Idaho.

Overall, Kim has 24 points (11g, 13a) in 15 games with San Diego, which ranks him third on the club. He leads the team with a +14, three short-handed goals and is tied with Bennefield with three game-winning goals.

In 180 professional games, Kim has notched 154 points (69g, 85a) and 135 penalty minutes. In 143 career games in the ECHL, he has registered 124 points (60g, 65a) and 127 penalty minutes.
