Lynx This Week Monday, January 2nd - Augusta 2 @ Charlotte 3 SOL

The Augusta Lynx locked horns with the Charlotte Checkers in a rare Monday game on January 2, a 3-2 Checkers shootout win. Augusta grabbed the lead with a pair of goals from Brian Passmore and Ryan Lang in the first period, but Charlotte chipped away at the lead with a goal each in the second and third periods to force overtime. With no scoring in OT, the teams went four rounds in the shootout where Charlotte prevailed 2-0 to nab the two points, leaving Augusta with the single.

Country and Western Weekend Begins! - Redneck Olympics, country karaoke, lots of country and western wear, music, and more. Plus pony rides for the kids in the Lynx Den courtesy of Party Ponies.

Augusta gets a chance to take down Charlotte at home on Friday night as the Checkers come to town for the third time this season. Augusta is 1-1-0 at home against Charlotte this year and 1-2-1 overall. Charlotte's Mike Bayrack has four goals and seven points to lead all scorers in the season series.

Saturday, January 7 vs. South Carolina - 7:05 pm

Promotions: Augusta Youth Hockey plays during the game; Country and Western Night Part II

The Lynx and Stingrays are in a stretch where they see each other five times in nine games through January 20, after which they won't face each other again until the 25th of February. In their last meeting Augusta rallied from a 3-0 first period deficit to win a 5-4 shootout decision over the ‘Rays. Brian Passmore netted the tying goal with just over a minute to go in regulation time, and the Lynx scored twice in a seven-round shootout to take the two points. Mike Wall stopped 22 shots for the win.

Sunday, January 8 vs. Gwinnett - 4:05 pm

Augusta and Gwinnett meet once again on Sunday afternoon for matinee action to round out three games at home for Augusta in as many days. Augusta last faced the Gladiators on December 29, a 5-1 loss in which Joe Pereira scored the only goal for the Lynx, while Guillaume Desbiens led the scoring attack for the Gladiators with a pair of goals that included the game winner. Augusta is 2-2-1 against the Gladiators this season.

Week In Review

Tuesday, December 27 - Augusta 0 vs. Florida 1

Augusta and Florida played three thrilling periods of hockey at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center on Tuesday, with the only goal coming on a late Everblades power play with just 1:10 left in regulation. Kevin Bergin's marker spoiled a 27 save performance from Jason Wolfe, while Phil Osaer stopped 23 shots for the victory.

Thursday, December 29 - Augusta 1 @ Gwinnett 5

Joe Pereira notched Augusta's only goal in the game, while Guillaume Desbiens scored twice including the game winner to lead the Gladiators to the win. Gwinnett is 11-1-2 at home this season, and 7-5-2 on the road. Mike Wall stopped 40 of 45 shots in the loss while Adam Berkhoel finished with 32 saves for the win.

Friday, December 30 - Augusta 1 vs. South Carolina 4

The Lynx were held to a goal or less in their third straight game, this time at home against the South Carolina Stingrays. Joe Pereira scored for the second time in as many games for Augusta, who never got closer than a 2-1 deficit. Four different Stingrays scored in the win, including former Lynx Scott Corbett, who notched the game winner. Davis Parley stopped 22 shots for the win while Jason Wolfe stopped 19 in the loss.

Saturday, December 31 - Augusta 5 @ South Carolina 4 SOW

Augusta got back in the winner circle by mounting a stirring comeback over the final two periods of play, scoring twice in the second and twice in the third to force overtime and dig out of a 3-0 first period hole. Brian Passmore sent the game to overtime with just over a minute to play, where the Lynx beat the Stingrays in a seven round shootout for the win. Mike Wall took the win with 22 saves over 65 minutes of work and 5-of-7 in the shootout. Davis Parley stopped 36 shots in the loss for the Stingrays.

Coach's Show Back Next Monday

Kyle Schultz Memorial Patches Now Available

As a way to help commemorate the life of former Lynx radio voice Kyle Schultz, memorial patches will be available through the team office by contacting Bill Lesshafft at (706) 724-4423, x. 11. Patches are $5 each and all proceeds to go the education fund set up for Kyle's son Tanner. A limited number of 500 patches are available, and they will also be sold at Lynx games and at the Behind the Bench Coach's Show at Wild Wing Café, starting Monday, November 21st.
