Wichita, Kansas - Kevin Carr collected his third shutout of the season as he stopped all 31 shots in the Utah Grizzlies 4-0 win over the Wichita Thunder on Friday night at INTRUST Bank Arena.

The Grizzlies were a perfect 2 for 2 on the power play. Ryan Walters got Utah on the board with his 8th goal of the season on the power play 8:49 into the contest.

It stayed a 1-0 game for the next 37 minutes of game time as both Kevin Carr and the Grizzlies defense did an outstanding job of keeping the Thunder off the scoreboard. Thunder goaltender Ty Rimmer was also solid through 2 periods of play.

The Grizzlies extended the lead as Mike Economos scored a power play goal 6:14 into the third period on a great pass from JT Henke. The first 5 on 5 goal of the game scored on a Joey Raats breakaway. The rookie from Arizona State got his second goal of the season. Ryan Walters extended the lead with his second goal of the game 11:17 into the third period. Walters has 9 goals and 19 assists on the season.

Jake Marchment and Eric Freschi each had 2 assists for the Grizzlies, who have the best winning percentage in the Mountain Division at .659 %.

Utah is now 4-1 on the current 5 game road trip and are on a current 3 game winning streak. The Grizzlies have won each of their first 7 meetings this season with Wichita.

Saturday night concludes the 6 game road trip as the Grizzlies take on the Thunder in game 2 of the 2 game weekend series. Face-off is at 6:00 pm mountain time. The game can be heard on ESPN 700.
