Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS - Kevin Carr stopped all 31 shots and Ryan Walters netted a pair of goals to help Utah knock off Wichita on Friday night by the final of 4-0 at INTRUST Bank Arena.
The contest was a goaltending dual through the first 40 minutes, but Utah scored three in the final frame to skate away with the victory.
The only goal of the first period came from Ryan Walters at 8:49. He curled around a pick and fired a shot over Ty Rimmer from the right circle to make it 1-0. Wichita hit two posts during the frame, including a late shot from Steven Iacobellis as Kevin Carr got caught out of the net.
After a scoreless second, the Grizzlies took control in the third. Mike Economos scored his fourth of the year on the power play at 6:14. Joey Raats netted a breakaway goal at 10:22 to make it 3-0. Less than a minute later, Walters tallied his second of the night to increase the lead to 4-0. Wichita couldn't solve Carr down the stretch and he earned the shutout victory.
Wichita hosts Utah tomorrow night starting at 7:05 p.m.
