January 7, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
The Augusta Lynx added another name to their All-Star roster today, with the ECHL's announcement that Lynx director of broadcasting and public relations Tom Callahan has been selected as one of three announcers for the radio broadcast of the Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game on January 26th.
Callahan, 28, is in his sixth season of professional hockey and second with the Lynx, having started his career with the former Western Professional Hockey League. Before coming to Augusta, the Lackawanna, NY native spent three years with the United Hockey League's Elmira Jackals. He has also worked for TNT Motorsports, covered the NJCAA national hockey championships, and spent two seasons as part of the broadcast team for the Elmira Pioneers baseball club of the Independent Northern League. Callahan earned his bachelor's degree in communications/journalism and history from St. John Fisher College.
Also selected to the radio broadcast team are Atlantic City's Dan Weiss, and Johnstown's John Michael.
The audio broadcast is produced by NHL Radio and will feature a play-by-play announcer, a color commentator and a roving reporter who will be ice level interviewing participants and others involved with the All-Star Game as well as representatives from the American Hockey League and the National Hockey League.
The live audio play-by-play will be broadcast worldwide on the Internet by Yahoo! Events, marking the seventh consecutive year that Yahoo! has carried the ECHL All-Star Game audio live. The live broadcast will begin at 6:45 p.m. ET and the broadcast will be available through on-demand for one year.
The audio broadcast will be carried live in Reading on WIOV ESPN Radio 1240 AM and on tape delay at 7 p.m. PT in Las Vegas on 920-KBAD. The audio broadcast was offered free of charge to all ECHL teams and additional stations will be announced as they are added.
