Michael Named Broadcaster For All-Star Game

Johnstown, PA- The ECHL announced today the roster the radio broadcasters for the 2005 Coors Light/ECHL All-Star Game to be held on January 26th, at the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA. Johnstown Chiefs broadcaster John Michael will be a part of the three person crew

Michael, 32, is in his second season as the Chiefs radio play by play broadcaster. Michael received his degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Notre Dame where he returned to earn both his law degree and MBA degree. Michael worked for more than four years as a trial attorney at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart in Pittsburgh before becoming the play-by-play voice for the Hagerstown (Maryland) Suns, a minor league affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Michael continues to broadcast baseball, basketball, football and hockey games for the Pittsburgh-based MSA Sports Network which has over 40 affiliates in Western Pennsylvania.

The audio broadcast is produced by NHL Radio and will feature a play-by-play announcer, a color commentator and a roving reporter who will be ice level interviewing participants and others involved with the All-Star Game as well as representatives from the American Hockey League and the National Hockey League.

The live audio play-by-play will be broadcast worldwide on the Internet by Yahoo! Events, marking the seventh consecutive year that Yahoo! has carried the ECHL All-Star Game audio live. The live broadcast will begin at 6:45 p.m. ET and the broadcast will be available through on-demand for one year.

The audio broadcast will be carried live in Reading on WIOV ESPN Radio 1240 AM and on tape delay at 7 p.m. PT in Las Vegas on 920-KBAD. The audio broadcast was offered free of charge to all ECHL teams and additional stations will be announced as they are added.

After tonight's game with Trenton, the Chiefs are back in action tomorrow night when they host the Bakersfield Condors at 7:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon they host the Reading Royals at 3:00 p.m. Sunday is also a Heluva Good Quality Foods Kid's Sunday. All children's tickets are just $1. Following the game there will be a "Skate With the Chiefs," and autograph session with the entire team. Skate rentals will not be available.
