Bruins Top Comets 2-1 Thanks to Two Quick Second Period Goals

Providence, RI - Two goals in the second period just 43 seconds apart from Vinni Lettieri and Samuel Asselin were all the Providence Bruins needed for a 2-1 victory over the Utica Comets on Saturday night at the Amica Mutual Pavilion. Kyle Keyser stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced in net, limiting the scoring for the Comets. Georgii Merkulov and Luke Toporowski extended their point streaks with assists on the night. The Bruins improve to 3-0-1-0 on the season, while the Comets fall to 1-2-0-0.

Stats

Lettieri's goal extended his point streak to four games.

With an assist tonight, Merkulov has a point in every game so far this season.

Asselin's goal was good for his first of the season.

Toporowski has points in three straight games thanks to an assist tonight.

Keyser stopped 23 shots of the 24 he faced.

The P-Bruins power play went 0-for-5 and the penalty kill went 4-for-4.
