Broncos Draft Jacson Bradbeer and Nathan Roberts in First Round of 2026 Prospects Draft

The Swift Current Broncos added two highly-skilled defencemen in the opening round of the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft on Wednesday night, selecting both skill and size on the backend with the 22nd and 23rd overall.

At 22nd overall, the Broncos selected defenceman Jacson Bradbeer from Yale Hockey Academy U15 Prep. The 5'9 blueliner from Maple Ridge put together an outstanding season, recording 9 goals and 52 assists for 61 points in just 29 regular season games. Bradbeer continued his strong play in the postseason, adding 2 goals and 4 assists in 3 playoff games.

Bradbeer also appeared in five games with Yale's U17 Prep team during the season and showcased his abilities at the U16 BC Cup, tallying four assists in four games.

Just one pick later at 23rd overall, Swift Current selected towering defenceman Nathan Roberts from Delta Hockey Academy U15 Prep. The 6'3 defender from White Rock registered 4 goals and 21 assists in 30 regular season games before adding 2 goals and 4 assists in 3 playoff contests.

Roberts also impressed at the U16 BC Cup, recording 4 goals and 3 assists in four games, showcasing both his offensive upside and physical presence.

With back-to-back first round selections, the Broncos addressed their defensive core with two talented prospects who bring high-end potential to the organization.
