Greenville Grrrowl News Release
PRINCETON, NJ - The ECHL announced today that Grrrowl goalie MIKE BRODEUR has been named the runner-up for the ECHL's RBC Financial Group Saver of the Month Award, and TYLER MOSIENKO has been named runner-up for the Vector-CCM Rookie of the Month Award. Reading's Cody Rudkowsky won the Saver of the Month Award, while the Royals' Greg Hogeboom won the Rookie of the Month Award.
Brodeur is amongst the league leaders in Wins (10), minutes (1032) and saves (509). He has started 17 straight games for the Grrrowl, and has posted a 10-6-1 record with a 2.67 goals against average and a .917 save percentage.
In November, Brodeur wet 8-3-1 with a 2.72 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage. The 6-2, 170-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, stopped 378 of 411 shots. He went 2-for-2 on penalty shots, turning away Gwinnett's Chris Durno on Nov. 18th, and denying Augusta's John Whitwell on Nov. 25th. Brodeur held opponents to one goal on four occasions: a 7-1 win against Columbia on Nov. 15th, a 3-1 win against Florida Nov. 22nd, a 4-1 win at Pensacola Nov. 23rd, and at 2-1 win against Augusta Nov. 29th.
Mosienko was named runner-up for Player of the Week on November 29th, as the 5-8, 175-pound center had seven points in five games towards the end of the month. The native of West St. Paul, Manitoba finished November with 12 points on four goals and eight assists, a +6 rating, and 18 penalty minutes. He had a three-assist game against Columbia on Nov. 15th, and posted another three-point night with a goal and two assists on Nov. 27th against Pensacola. Mosienko notched a shorthanded goal against Gwinnett on Nov. 5th, and had a +3 rating on Nov. 27th.
Brodeur and Mosienko will both be in action on Friday, as the Grrrowl travel to Augusta to play the Lynx in a 7:05 p.m. game at the Augusta Richmond Country Civic Center. Greenville is 3-0 against Augusta this season.
The Grrrowl return to the BI-LO Center Saturday for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Wheeling Nailers, in only the second-ever meeting between the two teams. That game is part of Public Safety Night at the BI-LO Center, with all Greenville Police Departments, Fire Departments, and other City Services receiving discounted tickets with a valid badge or ID. The Grrrowl will play their third game in as many days on Sunday at 3 p.m., when they travel to North Charleston to take on the South Carolina Stingrays.
