Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder will participate in donations of game-used jerseys and game-used pucks for the ECHL's Hurricane Relief efforts, Thunder team president Dan Chapman announced today.

"The Stockton Thunder are pleased to join the rest of the ECHL in supporting relief efforts from hurricanes Katrina and Rita," said Thunder team president Dan Chapman. "Our colleagues in Biloxi and Beaumont, as well as thousands of others in the southeast, have suffered so much and we must to our part to assist."

As a part of a program to benefit The Salvation Army's Hurricane Relief Program, Thunder goaltenders Jake Moreland and Jeff Weber will wear red Mississippi Sea Wolves (ECHL) jerseys for Saturday's 7:30 p.m. Stockton Arena opener against the Phoenix RoadRunners.

The Thunder and RoadRunners will also play Saturday's game with a commemorative puck, in support of the campaign. Every home opener in the ECHL used the limited-edition puck that has The Salvation Army logo and the words "ECHL Opening Night Hurricane Relief". Goal-scoring pucks and five game-used pucks from each period of each home opener will be collected. Produced and donated by In Glas Co, the "Exclusive Puck Supplier of the ECHL", the one-of-a-kind pucks will not be available for purchase anywhere else.

The game-worn goaltender jerseys and the limited-edition pucks will be auctioned by The MeiGray Group which is the "Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL". Fans will be able to access the auctions at the ECHL web site and at The MeiGray Group web site.

The ECHL's Sea Wolves and Texas Wildcatters took a voluntary suspension for the 2005-06 season, due to damages caused by Hurricane Wilma and Rita, respectively. Both teams are scheduled to return to play for the 2006-07 season.

Proceeds go to The Salvation Army for those affected by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, including those persons in the ECHL markets of Biloxi, Mississippi and Beaumont, Texas.

The Thunder returns to play on Friday, December 9, with a 7pm game at Rabobank Arena against the Bakersfield Condors. The game can be heard live on the internet (free-of-charge) and is available for a $6 "pay-per-view" rate at www.stocktonthunder.com, courtesy of B-2 Networks.
