Mississippi Jersey Auction this Saturday
December 8, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
The Aces will wear Mississippi Sea Wolves jerseys Saturday, December 10, that will be auctioned immediately following the 7:15 p.m. game. All proceeds from the auction will go to the "Mississippi Sea Wolves Rebuilding and Restoration Fund."
During Hurricane Katrina, floodwaters destroyed the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, including the front office, locker rooms, ice-making equipment and two Zambonis. According to Sea Wolves General Manager Jesse Martin, the hurricane did more than $300,000 worth of damage.
The "Rebuilding and Restoration Fund" has also been set up to help those staff members and season ticket holders who were affected by the hurricane.
"All of the money we've raised has gone straight to repairing what we lost. We've even relocated a few of our staff members to other teams. The good news is, a lease agreement was signed with the Coliseum for the 2006-07 season, which reassures our fans there is going be another season of Sea Wolves hockey," said Martin.
In addition to the Aces game-worn commemorative jersey auction, the Sea Wolves have made efforts to raise money by selling their "Hurricane Katrina Survivor" t-shirts online at www.msseawolves.com. The Sea Wolves plan to return to the ice for their 10th Anniversary Season in October 2006.
After a 4-3 shootout win over Fresno last night, the Aces and Falcons also meet Friday at 7:15 p.m. before Saturday's series finale and the Mississippi jersey auction.
Tickets are available at the Alaska Aces Office, Sullivan Arena or at any Fred Meyer location. Purchase tickets online at www.alaskaaces.com or by phone at 562-4800.
