Royals' Rudkowsky Named RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Cody Rudkowsky of the Reading Royals is the RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month for November.

In his third season with the Royals, Rudkowsky was 6-1-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 1.72 and a save percentage of .943 in seven games as the Royals went 9-2-0 in November.

The 27-year-old began the month on the road, making 31 saves in a 5-3 win at Dayton on Nov. 5 and stopping 26 shots in a 3-0 loss at Trenton on Nov. 9. He closed out the month winning five consecutive starts beginning with 35 saves against South Carolina on Nov. 19. After stopping 61 of 66 shots in two wins against Dayton, Rudkowsky made 19 saves in a 5-0 home win against Trenton and 25 saves in a 5-1 win at Trenton on Nov. 26 as the Royals winning streak extended to seven games.

The 6-foot-1 and 201-pound Rudkowsky is 9-1-0 and ranks second in the league with a 1.79 goals-against average and a .937 save percentage and is tied for second with nine wins. Rudkowsky, who made his National Hockey League Debut on Oct. 24, 2002 with the St. Louis Blues and had 10 saves in 30 minutes to pick up the win has won ECHL Goaltender of the Week three times.

In 2004-05 with Reading, Rudkowsky was 8-11-1 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.17 and a save percentage of .919 while also playing in the American Hockey League with Providence where he was 4-7-2 with a goals-against average of 3.20 and a save percentage of .898.

A member of Peoria's Kelly Cup Championship team in 2000, Rudkowsky has played six seasons in the ECHL with Peoria, Trenton and Reading and is 69-45-14 with 10 shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.42 and a save percentage of .918 in 129 regular season games. He has played six seasons in the AHL with Worcester and Providence and is 33-37-16 with four shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.93 and a save percentage of .903 in 99 regular season games.

The native of Willingdon, Alberta played four years in the Western Hockey League from 1995-99 appearing in 159 games with the Seattle Thunderbirds.
