Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Cody Rudkowsky was named as the RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month for the month of November. Rudkowsky, a seventh year pro from Willingdon, Alberta, won six of the seven games he played for the Royals in November, including five in a row from November 12 through 26. Rudkowsky, who was the Western Hockey League's Goaltender and Player of the Year in 1999, picked up his first shutout of the season on November 22, when he stopped all 19 shots he faced from the Trenton Titans. Throughout the month, Rudkowsky, a member of the Peoria Rivermen team that won the 2000 Kelly Cup championship, only allowed 12 goals in 418 minutes and 14 seconds, for a 1.72 goals against average. He stopped 197 of the 209 shots he faced for a .943 save percentage. Rudkowsky's winning ways have continued into December, as he is currently riding a personal six game win streak, and his nine wins (9-1-0) ranks tied for second in the league in that category. His overall goals against average of 1.79 and save percentage of .937 are also ranked second amongst goaltenders in the league.

The Royals play in Johnstown, Pennsylvania against the Chiefs on Friday night (7:30 p.m.), and then will return home to take on the Long Beach Ice Dogs this Saturday night (7:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center. The first fifteen hundred fans through the doors will receive a Royals' car magnet, courtesy of Capital Blue Cross. Saturday's game is also the first Faith & Family night of the season, sponsored by Chick-fil-A and the Auto Spa of Wyomissing, and features a live post-game performance by Paul Good. In addition, fans are encouraged to bring stuffed animals to the game for the annual Teddy Bear Toss. After the Royals score the team's first goal, fans can throw the teddy bears on the ice - all bears will be collected and donated to Toys for Tots and other underprivileged children in the community. The Royals will face the Long Beach Ice Dogs again on Sunday afternoon (1:05 pm). The first one thousand fans will receive Couch Potatoes, courtesy of Van Bennett Foods, and the first two thousand fans will receive Comcast Thundersticks.

The Royals are back in action this Tuesday night as they face off against the Wheeling Nailers at 7:05 p.m. The first two thousand fans through the doors will receive the second trading card set in a series of five commemorating the Royals fifth anniversary season, courtesy of Rieck's Printing. In addition, the US Women's National Team, which will be playing Finland in the Sovereign Center on Wednesday, December 14th, will be available between the first and second intermissions of Tuesday's Royals game to sign autographs and meet the fans. Tickets for the Team USA hockey game are available at the Sovereign Center Box Office.
