'Blades swing deal with Stingrays

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president & general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forward Anders Strome has been traded to the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL for defenseman Nick Harloff.

Harloff joins the Everblades after skating in 26 games with the Stingrays, notching seven points (2g, 5a) and 27 penalty minutes. The 21-year-old began the season in the Southern Professional Hockey league with the Columbus Cottonmouths, where he tallied two assists in 19 games. The native of Kitchener, Ontario is in his rookie season.

Strome leaves the Everblades after tallying 14 points (6g, 8a) in 28 games. The 24-year-old will be joining his third ECHL team this season after beginning year with the Long Beach Ice Dogs for four games. The Everblades acquired the Winnipeg, Manitoba native in a November 1 trade with the Ice Dogs.

In other moves, the Everblades activated forwards Bogdan Rudenko and Greg Black from the injured reserve list. Rudenko, 28, has been out of the lineup since suffering an injury in Florida's 4-1 loss to the South Carolina Stingrays on January 27. The native of Kazachstan has 14 points (7g, 7a) in 30 games with the Everblades this season. Rudenko originally signed with the Everblades on November 18. During his nine-year professional career, Rudenko has skated in 450 games, scoring 323 points.

Black returns to the Everblades lineup for the first time since being placed on the IR on January 27. The 23-year-old has played in seven games with the Everblades, notching one goal and collecting 17 penalty minutes. The native of Kamloops, BC missed all of the 2004-05 season with an injury after splitting his rookie season in 2003-04 between Peoria of the ECHL and Worcester of the American Hockey League. Prior to turning pro, Black spent five seasons with Seattle of the Western Hockey League, scoring 143 points and adding 700 penalty minutes in 258 career WHL games

In addition, the Everblades placed defenseman Chris Lee on the 7-day IR after suffering an injury in Florida's 3-2 loss to the Gwinnett Gladiators on February 17. The 25-year-old native of MacTier, Ontario heads to the IR after notching 31 points in (8g, 23a) in 45 games this season. Lee, who represented the Everblades in the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game, is in his second professional season, both with the Everblades, having scored 58 points in 113 career games.

The Everblades return to action on Friday, February 24 against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena. The first 5,000 fans will receive an Everblades poster on Big Brothers/Big Sisters Night when they enter the arena on Friday night.
